What is the name of this wing?

People told me: “it doesn’t exist” or “it’s the MS type 2 wing”, and even worse they also told me “it’s a drawing mistake”. But that’s not true, the wing exists but apparently nobody knows the name. I used to think this wing was a mixture of the Pan Speed, Mazdaspeed, KnightSports and R Magic wings, but the wing exists and you can clearly see it in the bottom picture! Does anyone know the name of the wing? If so please tell me I’m desperate. |

Panspeed's mounts are rounded more at that weird 45 degree angle in the pic and you can access the wing through the mounts, probably for adjustability. I tend to think that whoever called it a mistake might be correct.
Mazdaspeed has wider mounts and a bottom part that goes across the rear deck. , Amemiya also had wider mounts. R-Magic 's mounts are swept back more. Panspeed: https://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/f...=ORIG&ext=.JPG It says AutoExe on the Red Suns car and Initial D is good at making the cars look authentic. I'd look into AutoExe stuff more closely if I really wanted that wing. :) |
So you know it is a Japanese animation (known as Anime) based off a Japanese graphic novel (known as Manga) by Shuichi Shigeno.
Reason I mention this is the anime seems to have taken some liberties with the original artwork and this wing appears to be one of them. In the original drawings the wing *usually* appears to look like a hoop spoiler with a flat top (one piece total) like the RX-7 SP or the MKIV Supra, except it has the funky angle where it meets the body. In some panels, the wing uprights do extend above the blade on one or both sides however making it look more like the Panspeed Version 2 wing- but it never seems to have the lower mounting base. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...9b42a19472.jpg I would say if you are making a replica of this early version of Keisuke's FD you have some leeway on the wing. I do seem to remember seeing an aftermarket wing on an Evo (exaggerated stock look wing) that looked like the CGI animation one though- so there might be a wing that ugly out there- keep searching. Yahoo.co.jp search for イニシャルdケイスケのウィング (Initial D Keisuke's wing) showed this great one- So you know the question has been asked before... https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...fb05472961.jpg |
I think it's a Knightsports wing.

You are right, probably closest to the Knight Sports wing since that doesn't have the mounting pad area.
