Wetsanding rattle can clear coat?

I recently wetsanded through my clearcoat on a small portion of my front bumper, and I was wondering if the store bought rattle cans of clear coat would be sufficient to spray there, and the wetsand smooth again, and then buff it all out. I would rather not go and get the whole bumper repainted again. Thanks

Yeah it's possible as long as you didn't get too far into your basecoat and because it's on your bumper, imperfections are much harder to see vs. on larger flatter panels.

Follow basic surface prep
- Clean with de-waxer/reducer.
- Scuff area to be cleared with gray scrotchbrite.
- Clean again with de-waxer/reducer.

- Backroll mask your painting area (you don't want a hard line of clear coat so mask larger than you need)
- Shoot your can of good quality aerosol clear (mind your temperature, too cold will make your clear run very easy, you don't want to shoot too dry either).
- Shoot your can of clear blending aerosol (essentially reducer) to blend (make flatter) the outer areas of your clear coated area. This step will allow you to compound buff the area to best match the rest of the bumper much easier.

There are probably some steps i've missed and this is just one way that I would go about doing it. But the basics are here. G/L! :bigthumb:
