is that compressor surge?

stylEmon 12-03-08 01:47 PM

creative place for the turbo timer!

rotaryracer1 12-03-08 02:47 PM

sure is compressor surge, after you hear the blow off valve go and then that fluttering afterwards is compressor surge.

budfc3s 12-03-08 04:25 PM

yeah i always had a little fluttering....once my boost controller broke and i just ran spring pressure the surge got worse...im still in the mix of playing around with the motor and i still have to fine tune it.....makes 380 at 10 lbs....will try and scan dyno sheets so i can post them...... hopefully i can get a new boost controller after christmas and bring the car back down to work and see what kind of power it makes at 15 lbs

Sounds like open dump wastegate flutter, not compressor surge.
Sounds just like a Turbonetics Race Gate.

budfc3s 12-09-08 03:55 PM

im running a 52mm hks wastegate opened to atmosphere

onefast3gen 12-10-08 10:18 PM

Hey that car looks familiar. I know I seen it somewhere. J/K love your FC kyle.

GTmachine 12-18-08 03:40 PM

looks good do you think you could do a step by step on the manifold swap.

ZAN_TUNING 12-26-08 11:05 AM

As far as parts go; I believe all you need is the REW upper intake manifold, throttle body, and a japanese 89-91 13BT lower intake manifold.

Don't forget that really thick adapter plate on the manifold that's spacing between the upper and lower.

Looks good & sounds good. What kind of work have you done on the engine?

Hypertek 03-28-09 07:59 PM

looks decent, you need to get some real wheels on there and not those rotas though, i love the engine bay, not a fan of the domestic brand gauges though.

iamxeddiex 03-28-09 11:20 PM

I like the painted hatch window, I've seen it one a couple cars. I will do it some day down the road I think.

budfc3s 03-29-09 11:06 AM

what does everyone think, chrome/polish the engine bay..piping manifold alternator etc....or just leave it how it is?

ZumSpeedRX-7 04-06-09 07:02 PM

your car is really clean and well built. that engine is diesel! unfortunately the weather this past saturday was really brutal and i didnt get the chance to get the thorough look through that it deserved. as for the rotas, they look great. who cares who makes them as long as they look good, right?

it was nice to meet you and chat it up saturday. i am sure ill be seeing you again soon, either at the shop or at the Carlisi Meet. thanks for all the help with my car. im really loving it and i cant wait to get it out on the track to use its full potential.
