Tip for replaceing door panel.

I came across a little trick I thought I’d share for putting on door panels. This was done on an 85 SE. If your car is this old, all the little plastic and rubber pieces for the body work and interior are pretty dry and brittle. I wanted to replace this door panel on my SE from the door panel on my GS, but the SE didn’t have any of those rubber things in the door holes to press the door panel in. I tried robbing them from the GS, but most broke. So what I did is cut some bicycle innertube and placed them in the door holes. It worked great. If you place them in the holes opposite the bend in the tube, they will stay open until you press the door panel in.

Thanks, I am looking at taking mine off soon. Is it easy to get it off and back on without the tool to remove the clips?

I didn't know there was a tool. I just slipped a flat head screwdriver behind the panel and pop it out, move over to the next, pop it out, etc. Make sure you remove all (5) screws and the sleeve around the door lock button first.

Thanks man, Ill try it. I saw a tool for this on BlackDragon but thought you could probably do it without.
