Stockinteriors.com

I recently ordered a replacement carpet from Stockinteriors.com...

I was under the impression that I would have a pretty straight forward install with minimal cutting and have a brand new black carpet.

Here is what I received.

Looks great...right? WRONG.

The "molded" areas aren't very well defined and it isn't even cut evenly.

So I test fit the carpet and nothing even lines up. There is about 6 inches of extra material towards the front and even after folding the carpet to at least get it in the right position, I realized there is a LOT of extra material going over the transmission tunnel.

And then the area behind where the seats are would require slits and folds in the carpet that will be easily visible.

This is pretty unacceptable for a "direct fit, minimal cutting" aftermarket carpet.

Here are a few pics to show what I'm talking about.

Unacceptable.

You can see in the photo below how much extra material there is going over the transmission tunnel.

Terrible...

Now I saw a thread pertaining to Autointeriors.com and he seemed satisfied...

Anyone else use them? And what are my other options other than custom and OEM?

chicagozer 10-09-12 12:37 PM

That's a drag. I would like at some point to replace the tan carpet with black but I want something that's going to fit.

How hard is it to make a mold? I wonder how these guys wound up getting so far off.

JBF 10-09-12 12:40 PM

When I spoke with them on the phone, they seemed just as confused as to why it was so bad. But, they immediately said that their carpets aren't 100% perfect.

At least they're willing to cover my shipping back to them.

Best quote I've gotten for custom carpet installation is $360...but I haven't seen the quality of the material yet.

steeve2184 10-09-12 01:02 PM

Well thats lame... a heat gun wouldnt help anything?

I ordered used carpet for a 240 one time and it fit horrible until I let it sit in the car in teh sun, all the folds from packagine and storage distorted it a bit.

JBF 10-09-12 01:16 PM

I fought with it for a good 3 hours to try and get it close with no luck.

The fact that I have to cut material out of the center of the carpet is the worst part. I don't want to have a two-piece carpet. lol

rlee429 10-09-12 01:35 PM

I do highly recommend putting it in the sun or somewhere very warm, so the "molded" section, fixes itself. It won't fit 100%, cutting is a pain, but if you take it slowly you will be okay.

I highly recommending cutting it right down the middle, maybe 75% down? When you put the interior pieces back on you can never tell there is a slit there.

If you want something that fits 100% OEM is the only way, but I don't think they make them anymore. Getting a used one is going to be hard..

JBF 10-09-12 01:45 PM

When I spoke with them, they informed me that I would have to cut edges away...not the middle of the carpet.

Had I known that I would be hacking up a perfectly good carpet, I would have never bought it.

rlee429 10-09-12 02:54 PM

Ahh promised that no cutting in the center is completely false :( Glad they are taking it back without you paying for shipping back.

I'm going to give Autointeriors.com a shot and see how it works out.

TinMan09 10-12-12 01:03 PM

I goot my carpet from ACC Mats. It fit fantastic with only minimal cutting

JBF 10-12-12 01:47 PM

really? That's who makes the carpets for stockinteriors.com

I verified this when I was shopping around. When ACC mats told me that they are the manufacturer for stockinteriors.com, I crossed them off the list. lol

Supraman522 10-13-12 06:02 PM

I hate that you had this experience!Atleast the people in this community who see this can go another route when looking for carpet.

Hopefully you find a better replacement

TinMan09 10-13-12 06:44 PM

Hmm thats odd. Mine fit great. I let it sit out in the sun to kinda straighten out, then through it in the car anduse a heat cut in the rough spots.

cptpain 10-14-12 07:12 AM

Letting it sit in the sun, and even working a steam cleaner over it (if you can bother to borrow one or buy one) will help get the carpet to fit properly.
For whatever new carpet you'll buy, you need to keep the carpet a little oversized on the door sill area for the plastic holders that are on the original carpet

Using a heat gun is going to burn the carpet before it ever gets a chance to be a little more pliable and potentially catch fire bringing the car with it.

JWteknix 10-14-12 07:18 AM

I went with the aftermarket carpet once before I'll never doit again

JBF 10-14-12 12:05 PM

We'll see. If the one from Auto-interior.com is shiit too, I'll just pay for a custom install.

JBF 10-24-12 02:00 PM

Update:

Stockinteriors.com, after 12 days is finally issuing me a full refund and I have since ordered from Auto-interior.com

Guess what?

It comes from the same factory ACCmats.com

It still has a lot of extra material around the front portion of the transmission tunnel, but the rear section of the carpet fits much better. I'm not as upset having to cut out a smaller section of the tunnel portion now that I won't be splitting the carpet down the middle.

linnadawg 11-04-12 01:22 AM

How did your install go? I'm ordering from ACC right now. 801 black with the mass backing. Other people have had good results.

JBF 11-04-12 10:55 AM

ACC-Mats is the company who makes the other two. Yet charges more.

Save your money and go with the Auto-interior one. Less work to make it fit.

linnadawg 11-04-12 05:15 PM

Yea thats where I got it. 234$ total. Funny how the mass backing adds 22$ to the shipping.

rotary_rob 12-17-13 03:17 PM

does anyone have experience with the auto-interior and pictures of it installed?

thanks

If you can make a step by step with pics that be awesome so we can see exactly how much you cut and where you had to cut to make it fit right?

rotary_rob 12-27-13 02:22 PM

Auto interiors carpet sucks

I opened it up and tried to install it and it was a nightmare

nothing lined up and no holes were cut.

LOTS of extra material

If i were to do it again I would source oem black carpet
