Stock CD players spits out CD's, why?

I searched. Nothing. So I was wondering if anyone can tell my why the stock cd player on my '93 touring keeps spitting out cds? I'll pop on in and the display blinks for awhile, then it either accepts it or spits it back out. This goes on for a while and then it'll finally take in the cd. But latley its been doing this alot. And it started skipping this week.

Has anyone had this problem before? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks.

I had the same thing happen to me. There is no fix, I found a good one on this forum. Just post a thread in the parts section.

Hahaha...Welcome to the club dude, my FD does the same shiit, and It drives me freakin crazy.......I thought I was the only one untill martini on the forum told me he has the same problem, I guess its prone to happen to FD's. Not sure whats the cause of it, but I'm planning on replacing my whole stereo set up, to resolve the problem.

Dayum. So I guess this one of the many fascinating traits of the FD. So, basically, I should just go ahead and buy a new head, I like the bose system anyhow. Any others nooks n' cranies I should look out for (besides the enivitable "BOOM")?

Oh, and what do you all think of that new Sony X-Rated deck? (is that the name) Ya know w/ all that :boink: on the screen. Is that any good?

I wonder if cleaning the lense can help? Get one of those wet CD lense cleaner. It could be spitting out the CD bc it is having problem reading the cd. It's worth the try for 10 bucks before you replace the player.

I'm not familar w/ that lense cleaner. I'm guessing it cleans the bottom part of the cd? I know of those devices where you put the cd in, turn a nob or some sorts and it literlly slices off a layer of the cd so the new layer will be scratchless. Is that any good?

I think all FDs have problems with their CD player. I pretty much have mine still in just so that I don't have an empty space after I installed my near head unit. Remember that the CD player is probably 1992 technology (around when CDs first came out).

Perhaps it doesn't like the CD's you are playing! :D

I haven't had the CD-player spit CD's out yet, but it definitely does skip and on some CD's, I can't manually change tracks. Allowing it to go from track to track by itself seems to work.

CD lense cleaner is a CD with brushes on it. The better ones come with a solution bottle so you can wet the brush for better cleaner.

What you were talking about is the CD cleaner. It cleans the CD, not the player.

For me it really didn't help.

There are just some CD's that will play, and some that won't. I'm planning on replacing the Bose unit, eventually, I just have other areas of my car that need more attention first. ;)

Well, it pretty much spits out every cd when i start her up. But, the player seems to show a liking to Dave Matthews but tends to not even want to play Ludicris. I guess she doesnt like rap :p:

If it's spitting out every CD, don't expect it to hold the laser lens cleaner disk either. Hold out for a replacement of the Bose unit.

cool_koo 07-15-02 03:12 PM

Its not worth to fix becaue the stock deck sucks anyways... just pick up an after market deck i would be better than to rack your brains out trying to figure out whats wrong.

I heard somewhere on the forum that it was caused by heat or humidity. I guess the deck is so old it cant take too much. I have a reciept on mine being replaced then when I got the car it wasn't working right either. Makes sense when the car was in MO with all that dead heat. Just get an aftermarket one.
