Speakers?

Hi I just bought my RX-7 recently and I'm totally knew to certain things about my RX-7. Does anyone know what size speakers the RX-7 has? I want to replace all 5 speakers in the car and I have no clue what size to look for or how to ask a seller for a type of speaker.

go to crutchfield.com and select your vehicle.

If you have base, R1 or R2 then you have 5x7 or 6x8's in the rear. Pioneer and Kenwood make very good direct fit. The 5th center speaker is only with the Bose. The fronts on the Bose are 4" and there are no rears but they are amplified and can't be replaced with normal non-amplified speakers.

Whoops, that was pretty close but not acurate. Apparently all models have a center speaker but only the Bose version was amplified. All had rear speakers but the Bose version had two in the trunk and the others on the panels behind the seats. Front speaker sizes Bose are 4.5" & 6.5" on others. Oh, just click this below...

That was pretty close but not accurate. ;)

Yes, all FDs have center speakers.
But only the German (European?) versions have no amps. All others do.
Bose center speakers are a bit smaller than the others.
Bose has no rears, only the sub tube with two woofers ("push+pull"/"isobaric").

But the link is great! ;)

Here's another one.
I listed some of those funny speakers that should fit Mazdas. Some call them 5x7, some 6x8. I'm not sure if there is a difference at all.

These are the ones available now in Germany. Maybe some of them you guys can buy as well.

Kind regards,
Tobias

I just replaced mine a couple weekends ago. What a difference! My stockers had completely dry rotted.

Just wanted to mention that you don't have to take all the interior out like one online tutorial says. There's one bolt on the rears that's hard to get to, but with some vice grips and a bent screwdriver it can be removed. This lets you change the rears with the luxury of only popping the grills. The fronts involve pulling the door panels though. For what it's worth, Crutchfield's instructions and adapters that are included for free are a tremendous help.
