Should I get ralley stripes! Need a quick answer!

Hey I was wondering if you would think a 94 black on black rx7 r2 would look with 2 dark silver racing stripes down the center from front to back? The stripes would be about 6" wide for each stripe with an inch and a half seprating the 2 stripes. Would stripe accents, you know the really thin stripes that go on the outside of the main stripe, look good or should I go with just a plain 2 large stripes. I think they look really good.
Any opinions are welcome!

If possible can you send me a link to were I can view a vehicle like this?

I gotta decide tonight before it goes into the shop for a whole new paint job. As is I am going with the stripes with no accents.

hell no.. i hate racing striped.. no offense just not my cup of tea... keep it clean looking.. i have seen a couple Fd's with stripes... just nasty
go to www.autotrader.com and put in zip code 91333 and look for a Red FD with stripes... looks terrible
hope this helps

i say no, and so will the majority of the people on this forum.

but it is your car and you can do whatever you want to it.

Street King 04-08-02 08:16 PM

I guess............I couldnt find that car in the auto trader so if you can give me a direct link to it that would be great.

Are you painting your car for the people here in the forum or for yourself?

I think they look good if they're done well and have the right color combination. There's a three rotor car, I think it's Petitt's, isn't it? that has the color stripes you're considering (black with silver stripes). I think the car was recently in one of the magazines. Someone should have a picture of it.

Cam's car is blueish/purple color.

Bacon 04-08-02 09:36 PM

sometimes i like them sometimes i dont...personally being a big fan of old school muscle cars i DO NOT like them on imports
i mean its fugly seeing every car on the road with strypes..personally i say stay from anythign thats gonna make anyone throw a eyebrow to my car

What difference does it really make if we like it? It's your car. Are you not going to date a girl you like if you're friends don't find her attractive?

hirok 04-08-02 09:55 PM

i agree with bacon. stripes down the middle is definitely a domestic thing.

do what YOU like best.

Mr. Stock 04-08-02 10:28 PM

No stripes on a fairly round car. A square peg is not meant for a round hole. Your parents should have taught you that long ago. The reason that old muscle had them was to accent the body lines. I am a huge advicate for the cease and desist of racing stripes on FD's. Come on kids, support the cause. Send your charitable donations to me and I will purchase the 20b that I have been looking at lately.

couldn't have said it better myself.

When I first read your question, I was going to post that I don't like racing stripes at all on FDs. Then I saw the_glass_man and Mr. Stock's cars ... and realized they can look damn nice.

But seriously, do what you want. It's your car. Our opinions are completely and totally irrelevant.

Jordan 04-09-02 02:26 AM

Yeah, I think it has to be done right, otherwise....

I like Mr. stock's car.

There's nothing wrong with having two!!!
It's a lot easier to find someone going around the track when you can identify them! :D

I just wanted opinions I never said I was going to follow them. I think I'am gonna hold off on the stripes and buy a fuel mod instead. Thanx
