Security Systems

I'm really paranoid now about my car and parts being stolen since my hood was ripped off and some other crap in the past few months.

What are you all out there using? I'm looking for the best brand name alarms, nifty tricks to do to your ignition/starter, screwing with a PowerFC, etc.

I have way too much time and money in my car now and I'm committed to making it a fortress.

David

I have a clifford alarm system. Probaly one of the best out there. You can get all kinds of deals on it such as glass braking sincers, ignition killer, hood pin, remote start, prox sencers, ect. I also have air horns as my syrane pretty loud. But again I say go with cliford or viper. There both made by the same company.

Oh and I have like a turbo timer and stuff and it hasnt messed it up with having it. So your power FC should be ok with it.

I wasn't worried about interference with the PowerFC, I was alluding to whether there might be some quick cheap trick to do with the PowerFc setting wise that was still safe, and then say, take my commander with me. If there was, I'd seriously doubt the average or even educate thief would be able to circumvent that, unless he carried around a PowerFC commander in which case I'd be simply outmatched anyway ;*)

RX-7racer88 06-02-03 01:21 AM

Yeah true but for the most part if its hiden some place they normaly wont mess with it if they dont see anythig showing. Most good theifs dont mess with a car unless they see something thats easy to take. Kids say do it wont have any idea on how to steal something like that too.

Are you able to arm your alarm while the turbo timer is on? Is there a special way to wire it up with a turbo timer?

RX-7racer88 06-02-03 07:10 PM

Yes I can arm it with the timer still runing. For the higher end clifords you can plug it in or have a pro. instaler do that stuff for ya. But how ever you do it you can program it in but now i think aobut it a pro. instaler will have to do it b/c of a computer they have that runs it all. Like mine I dont have that option so they used some extra wiring and got it to work right.

RX7 RAGE 06-02-03 07:59 PM

My Blitz Dual Turbo Timer works with my Clifford Alram. My installer put a relay so I can arm it while the turbo timer is on. :)

RX-7racer88 06-02-03 10:19 PM

Yeah relay is what I was thinking of. Thats what they used to wire mine in.

im using the omegamax system, keyless entry, with hood pin, trunk pin, dome light supervision, door trigger, (2) shock sensors, proximity detector, (2) glass break sensors, all hooked in with the omega GPS system which will track the vehicle through satelitte if it is stolen and will page me via the remote pager if the alarm is even set off, the screen indicates if someone broke glass, set off shock sensor, opened the door, the hatch, the hood etc. too many functions to list, I feel that if I spent the money I did on my car it has to be protected, and even if the alarm power is cut the GPS system continues to work.

I would say get LoJack since it is available in your area. Car alarms alone don't do the trick. How many alarms do you hear a day and just ignore? The lojack will allow for the car to be located if it is stolen. Plus most insurance companies give better discount with a lojack vs. just an alarm. Other than that you can always do a fuel cut off switch, ignition kill. If I had the time and money I would get a WOLF ecu that had the ability to setup so a code has to be put in before vehicle can be started.

Any links for your omegamax system? (Sorry, I'm being lazy and want the easy answer). I'm interested in looking at something along those lines.

The GPS system looks very interesting might get that.
Much more covarage than LoJack.

Ohhh, I hate when someone breaks into my car.. I had someone broke into my car, took my wheel lock keys and took all four wheels and left my car on concrete blocks.. Since than, I wanted a place with a garage.. And now I have one..

Most theives are usually some young kids who have nothing better to do than steal other people's stuff.. Luckily they were so studid that they didn't know that my 2 speakers where worth more than the set of rim..

Anyhow, Far as security.. I have seen somewhere you could mount small motion sensored camera that takes pics of people who come close to your car.. I don't remember who made it.. i will find out and post it here..

RX-7racer88 06-03-03 10:40 PM

Yeah Ive had punk kids brake in to my car a few times sucks let me tell ya. But the last time the alarm scared them off I think. Theres one tring to think of the name that calls the police and shuts the car off if say some one steals it and locks you in till the police arive to arest that person and retive your car. I think its a telatrack or something like that.

Herblenny 06-04-03 11:11 AM

That's pretty cool.. I have to check into that.. I am getting ready to install clifford 900iq..

BadBoy 06-05-03 07:36 AM

///ALPINE SEA 8081 is the most complicated and yet top of the line alarm system in the world...or so i hear. its supposedly the best thing out there with the most options.

Now that's something i'd want... Except it wouldn't be the police arrviving :D

You need to consider doing something that other people don't do. Find a unique way to cut ECU, fuel pump, etc, etc and don't tell any one. I use a Clifford AG4 but it is only as good as the install. Someone could tow your car. Most thiefs can break in and steal a car in a minute or so even with alarms. I personally think it would take 30 minutes for a REALLY good theif with all the right wiring to get my car.

That's why I was wondering if there was something creative (but safe) I could do with the PowerFC so the car wouldn't even run right. And then take the commander with me which is easy.

paximus 07-03-03 02:41 PM

i thought this was pretty cool when i saw "the transporter"

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=200503

i have a dei alarm, going to get a lojack and one of these starter kill pads. just need to hide the pad somewhere.

T88NosRx7 07-04-03 02:56 AM

do an autopage alarm with kill pads and a autolock, don't think they will waste there time with all that. Currently my RX7 sits with an clifford intelliguard 8000 with two battery backup horns plus the stock horn. One horn is located inside of the car, and will make anyones ears bleed if they were in the car. I also have a autolock on the cluch, and a club (the club is just for looks).
