Scratched scuff plates
What do you guys do with your scuff plates when the start getting pretty scratched up? The aluminum looks like it has some kind of coating on it, otherwise I would polish them.

Cover it with carbon fiber:D
That's what I did, I'll post some pics when I get home. Do a post search, someone is already going to be marketing carbon fiber scuff plates. Basicly, stock aluminum scuff plates with a true carbon overlay I would sell them, if it wasn't such a pain in the ass to do. If you have a pair of aluminum scuff plates & are interested in the carbon fiber look, send me a PM. I might be swayed to convert a couple of pairs.;) IM not taking about using that vinyl, carbon look, sticker. This is the real deal, carbon cloth. Thats why it's such a pain in the ass. Wet lay up, vaccum bagged & heat blanket. Poly clearcoat finish. Take three to four days to complete. |
Here is a crappy shot of what I mean.......

Carbon or polished looks great. :)

Here is a picture of them polished.
http://www.markkoch.net/images/newrx...l/polished.jpg I can also do them in carbon fiber. My friend and I are starting to make parts for others. Check out www.carbonfiberparts.net Right now I got a set of cf door exteroir door handles and a cf gauge pod (the one that sits on the gauge cluster and holds 2 guages) They still need sanding and clear coat, but I will post pictures soon. |
