Overall Review: Two Thumbs up! :icon_tup: :icon_tup:

Great product, great customer service, really nice update to interior car plastics.

Pros: DIY installation ease. High quality leather and Alcantara options with endless color combos and material choices. Excellent price point and very good support from company!

Cons: None for the center tunnel, brake, and shift boots. For steering wheel wrap, above average skill required to affix wrap to steering wheel.

Wanted to share my install of a complete set of Redline Goods (Shift boot store - RedlineGoods leather shift boots) interior leather pieces. I love the way they look as they give our somewhat tired plastic FD interior a high quality, leather and Alcantara upgrade.

Reline Goods has some great options for the FD:

Mazda RX7 1993+ shift boot - RedlineGoods leather shift boot store

They have options for the shift boot, the ebrake handle and cover, the center console, and for steering wheel wraps. Options include regular and perforated leather as well as Nappa Italian leather, and Alcantara and Bride materials.

If that is not enough, Redline Goods also offers an array of stitching options and colors, providing you with the ability to truly customize your FD.

I had previously installed a Redline Goods center console and a shift boot and was really happy with the products, so going back to them for a complete set of interior pieces was a no brainer for me. After much contemplation of materials and stitching colors and options, I settled on the following:

Shift Boot: RX7 1993+: 1x shift boot, Black NAPPA PRF&ALC 9040 STRIPES leather, Matching thread ( SIZE -1.5 inch! ) This is a perforated leather with a black Alcantara stripe running down the middle of the shift boot (as opposed to the OEM "X" pattern) double stitched in tan.

ebrake Boot & Cover: RX7 1993+: 1x ebrake boot+1x ebrake handle cover, Black NAPPA PRF&ALC 9040 STRIPES leather, Tan thread ( AXIS ). Went with the black perforated leather and an Alcantara stripe for the boot and with Nappa black leather for the cover. Both stitched in tan.

Center Console: RX7 1993+: 1x center console cover, Black NAPPA leather, Tan thread. Went with black Nappa leather with tan double stitching.

Steering Wheel: Protege 1999-03: 1x steering wheel cover, Black NAPPA/ALC 9040 leather, Tan thread ( WHEEL PADDING Yes ). I've got a Miata/Protege steering wheel. Really like it but wanted to thicken the wheel a bit while also upgrading the cover materials. So, went with the padding option for the wheel and then with black Alcantara for the left and right spokes and with black Nappa leather for the tops and bottoms of the wheel.. Used Tan stitching for the wheel to give it some contrast as well.

Some pics of how it turned out. I love the look.

I still have some work to do on tightening up the wheel wrap. This is my first time trying something like this. Did the padding and install myself and enlisted the help of my wife to stitch up the wrap. It's not difficult but getting it OEM tight is a challenge. We are going to try to tighten it up and if we fail, then I will send it in to one if the Redline Goods recommended shops to see what they can do.

Like my last Redline Goods center console cover, but really love this one. The Nappa leather is buttery soft and the double stitching really set off the look I was trying to achieve.

Install is easy. The leather console cover spray glues on to the stock console.

And pics of the shift boot as well as the ebrake boot and cover. FYI, the chrome button on the ebrake is one from a Mazda Miata. It simply screws into place. What I like best on the pieces is the black Alcantara stripes.

That steering wheel cover looks like a cheap ad on in an otherwise clean interior. Plus IMO, the perforated leather does not match the rest of the interior, it looks out of place.

But, to each their own.

^ so how do you really feel? :)

Good news is you can do this in any style you wish so yes, to each his own.

I really love the thicker steering wheel.I always wanted a thicker wheel like the one the latest bmw m3 has.How thicker is compared to the OEM?

Looks great David. Thanks for the review. I'll be ordering from them soon.

Did you take the old console covering off, because your console looks padded. I bought the Redline console leather cover, and according to the Redline instructions took the old covering off. The Redline leather has no padding backing, so it makes the console feel to hard. Should I find some thin foam to glue to the console first?

I had a roll of tool chest liner made by Kobalt tool chests....bought it at Lowe's for another project. Really nice material, strong, soft, not too thick....why not use it to pad the center console? I just finished recovering the center console on my FD.....covered the whole console with the liner material, then covered the console with Redline's leather console cover....it looks terrific, the liner gives the leather a nice soft feel, just right to make the console leather look and feel plush, the red stitching lined up nice too.<br />Redlines shift boot, E brake boot and the console cover for the FD's interior makes the interior look exotic, much better leather than the Spirit leather.

Not sure why the photo's are upside down, I tried deleting them flipping them and re-sending...they were still upside down!

Those don't look like OEM seats; are they from another car?

Also - mind sharing your headunit model number and would you buy it again?

tsmith94FD 04-21-19 09:17 PM

Greg, I think I saw your car at 7stock, the red car? Talked to you a bit about your redline pieces. I put my order in a few weeks ago, just waiting for them to arrive.
Glad I read your post on the tool liner. Your console def. felt cushy.
If you aren't who I met at 7stock, just ignore this. 😁

They're 1993 Base seats. Since those pictures I bought a set of Bruam Advan red stitched seats. Major hassle getting them to fit. I had to reverse the seats (Drivers seat to passenger side) to get the rear-ward travel for leg room, I'm 6' 34" waste. Got the seats to travel all the way back without cutting interior trim, but the head room suffered. If I had to wear a helmet I'd hit the roof. Wound up taking the stock base seat covers off, washed them, and had them red stitched. Put them back in the FD. Much better comfortable fit, plenty of headroom, and they look nice, they actually match the 3M 1080 Carbon Fiber overlay on the interior trim.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'headunit' model number?

Hi tsmith94FD! No it wasn't me at 7stock....what is 7stock? If I can be of any help with the interior trim let me know.:)

tsmith94FD 04-22-19 05:33 PM

Don't ask what 7stock(sevenstock) is too loudly, you will get flamed on here lol. It's the largest gathering of rotary vehicles on the west coast once a year in L.A. they even had a rotary converted VW Bug there this year. People from all over, even the East Coast, come just to visit 7stock (sevenstock).
The car I saw had the red stitching as well, and the center console was padded underneath. He is the one who told me about Redline Goods, speaking of which, mine just arrived today.

Tsmith94FD....thanks for the info!.....Wish they had something like Sevenstock here on the Gulf coast, it sounds like a cool event..Good luck with the Redline, it's good quality,...but put some padding under the console...it makes a big difference in the feel...and look.

^We have Deals Gap Rotary Rally, which is much closer to the Gulf coast than Sevenstock, I've been going to it every year since 2010 (sans 2017, when my FC was down), it is totally worth the roughly 650 mile one-way trek from MD.

Greg Sabol 04-24-19 10:48 AM

Thanks Pete 89T2. I checked out the Deals Gap rotary Rally, looks like a fun event, I'd like to try and get up there.
