Planted seat bracket for FD
 

I have a set of Recaro SPG seats and I am looking at mounting options. I have heard that the bride lomax sliders and rails work, but that the bolster rubs the door panel. In looking at options I came across the planted seat brackets.

Is anyone running these brackets for a side mount seat setup? How is the fitment once you have added sliders? With sliders do the seats sit higher or lower than stock? Any help/advice on these would be appreciated.

There are a few members here with full bucket seats. I'm currently researching the same info, and from what I've seen the best option is the recaro side mounts paired with sparco flat mount.

This allows the seat to be almost completed planted to the floor. Simply add the sparco rails if you want it adjustable and you're good to go.

Looks like they have an FD application (even has an OEM seat belt mount), and side mounts all ready to go, whereas Sparco has no FD-specific application. I've no sense of the quality of the "Planted", but the only other options are a custom one (what I have), or the AtomicRex, assuming they still make them and you can actually get them.

I am a little confused on why you like the sparco setup. It doesn't look like they offer an FD specific bracket.

imo all the brackets are the same. its just a gimmick. i called multiple vendors asking if i can use xxx brand with my recaros (pole position) and they said no. one local vendor said i could use sparco brackets with the recaros so i bought them... what do you know... they fit...

im running spraco brackets on modified stock rails. on the inside trans tunnel i had to reverse the brakcet to clear the hump in the trans tunnel. mine dont hit the door panel at all. but because i sit sooooo close up the side of my seat jussttt rubs the side of the center console...

I dont know what kind of style your after but another option is to run flat door panels that i'm developing.... I'll be opening a group buy in about 2 weeks..

If you're using modified stock rails (sliders), you aren't taking full advantage of a race seat and how low it can be mounted. Fixed, or fixed multiple position rails let you get the seat on the floor. The key isn't the side mounts, those are pretty generic, it's the bottom that mounts to the four seat mount holes in the floor.

Planted and AtomicRex are the only places I've seen that make FD-specific bottoms.

very true. i sit SUPER close. its near impossible getting out without sliding my seats back..

i **think** it is possible to have the benefit of a low race seat with rails but it has to be custom. I'm going to remake my brackets as i think i can slightlyyy lower it some more.. I will get back to you on this in the next few weeks...

i have the planted driver seat mount used to mount my bucket seat $50 bucks if you want it.

My seat is literally 1/8" from touching carpet. No way you can get that low with a slider. Gotta be a custom fixed mount.

Here's mine. I cut out the railing. Provided I'm going full cage. I also cut out and redid some of the transmission tunnel later. This allows you to get as low as possible. I love my seat position now. You have to get rid of that railing to get low. I have a sparco evo2 seat.

Came across this searching for some different options. I snagged a planted bracket because I didn't want to mess around with fabricating my own mid-season, it was a mistake.

The seating positing is actually quite high, I didn't compare them but I wouldn't be surprised if it actually sits higher than the stock seat. In addition to that it pushes the seat VERY far forward. Which would be fine for shorter individuals but there's no way I could drive the car with the seat bolted to the rear most mounting holes.

In addition to all of that I had to flex the thing into place to have it bolt down. So being "FD Specific" really wasn't that much of a benefit IMHO.
