Opinion on painting rims...

The previous owner of my 7 didnt know how to avoid curbs or something, so I have decided to fix up my stock rims.

Im going to use this tutorial to repair the rims.

But I can not decide if i want to keep them Silver or paint them black. I really like the black/red look but I haven't seen a 7 that way so I'm having a tough time deciding. Help me out and lend your opinion.

PM Dcrosby! He has black after market rims/red lips. His FD looks distinguished.

I think stock rims look bad when painted black. It reminds me of cheap Civics running around without their hub caps.

theres a bunch of red fds on the forum with black wheels. I think it looks hidious but i think you should do it if you really like the way it looks.

I do not like black wheels, period. I ESPECIALLY do not like stock FD wheels painted black.

you have a beutiful car anyway.. you shouldnt go fing it up by painting your rims black.

Do what you want.

The previous owner of my car put curb rash all the way around every rim. I had to do something to them but didn't want to spend the time/cash to powdercoat them when I am getting rims in the near future.

I ended up painting them black and have gotten nothing but compliments since I have done it. Everybody thinks they are powdercoated too. It gave a very nice contrast to the white car.

I think I may paint mine too, but its gonna be a gunmetal color. Mine have road rash all over from previous owner, but I'm not gonna take the time to fix all the scrathes just some (even though I may end up doing all anyways once I do some). I'm just gonna sand them down paint them then reclear coat em. Make sure to use high heat paint for standing up to the brake heat.

I wouldn't worry about the brake heat too much.

I just painted mine with some wheel paint I found on a website. I didn't add any special clear coat. They have stood up good for about 2 months now. I took them out on their first canyon run today and used the brakes A LOT. No change at all.
