No Sound From My Speakers
 

ohkay now that my stereo install is complete. i have absolutly NO sound from my stock 10 watt speakers. the head unit is 45X4. anyone got any suggestions? new speakers and wire? i thought so

could mixing up the positive and negative accidentally change it? because there is NO sound...not even distortion

If you crossed your speaker wire, you should still get sound, just out of phased. Maybe you can tell us what exactly did you change, head unit/speaker/amp? Also, which gen is this?

Did you make sure the speaker harness is connected well? Did you have to splice it speaker wires? If you changed your headunit, maybe some wire is incorrectly hooked up.

sorry i have an 86 n/a. and i am putting a new head unit in. i am not using a wireing harness and it looks like a now need new speaker wire and probably speakers too because nothing is working

Hopefully you bypassed the stock amplifiers, and went right from the deck to the speakers?? If you just used the speaker wires that were attached to the stock deck, you have the new deck's output connected to the amplifiers. Chances are, when you installed the new deck, you left off the wire that tell's the amplifiers when to turn on - and so they're off - no sound!

yeah i got rid of the amps completly and now when i hook it up i get no sound at all??????

Start checking your connections. If you have a digital voltmeter/ohmmeter, ensure that you have continuity to each speaker. From the deck, it should read close to 4 or 8 ohms to each speaker. If any of them read close to zero, you have a short. This could be the reason for no sound as they deck probably has some kind of protection circuitry that shuts down the output if a short is detected at any of it's outputs. If you read something over 16ohms, you don't have the speaker connected properly. This is unlikely the problem - unless you made the same mistake on all of them!

The last resort check would be to take some readings from the output lines of the deck. With a CD in play, and the volume around 75%, a DVM in the AC position should bounce around in voltage. If they sit at zero, it's most likely the deck that's the problem. Do this test with the speaker wires disconnected.

Umm get a 9.6 volt battery and hook touch it on the terminals on your speakers, it could be that the voice coil is cook in them, if the spekers move a little they are fine, so make sure the wires are attached and then check you head unit outs, with multimeter

If it is fine and somthing is coming out it's gotta be those cables...... If nothing still Who knows , oh i have an IDEA


Check your fuse's in your fuse box and in ther head unit if any ok
