New radio, tuner works, but antenna won't go up. Did the installers forget something?
I've got a 93 RX7. When I bought it the stock radio was very dead and no longer working. I figured no big deal since it's a casette player and I would replace it anyways. I've finally had a new Pioneer head unit put in (got a great deal at Fry's). Their installation crew put it in. Simple take out the old unit then put in the new unit job I would think. The new radio's AM/FM tuner works, but the antenna doesn't go up. Since it is getting a signal and plays stations I would assume that it is connected to the antenna. Does the power signal running to the motor that sends up the antenna on the same wire that plays your music, or did the installers miss something during installation? Thanks for your help!
There is a wire specifically for raising the antenna (some cheaper brands will combine this with the remote turn on wire), so it is possible for an antenna to be connected to the tuner without it being connected to that wire. It's a pretty standard thing to hook all those wires up right away, so you may have a different problem like a bad ground on the motor or a short/disconnect somewhere along your power antenna wire. Your motor may also be dead. A shop worth their snuff should be able to take it in for five minutes and check it to be sure. If not, they should be able to diagnose it for you to tell you what is needed.
it should be the blue and whit wire on the the pioneer unit and hook it to the solid blue on the the vehicle harness (if it has the harness and they didnt cut it) or blue and white to blue and white. If you post some pics of both of your harness's you have i can tell you what to hook up.
