New Dry Carbon Fiber - I'm testing

Here goes my experience, the Good and Bad.

You can see by the first picture it was sent folded up. I sent them an email and around 30 minutes later they responded. The said just sent back whatever is left and they'll send me a new yard on a roll. They said that is the first time someone has said that but they'll fix it from now on. Okay, now on to the install.

Techniques I used:

I used an 80 grit orbital sander on all of the pieces until it was smooth.
I couldn't find the exact 3M glue they recommend on the site but I'm pretty sure this is the same stuff.
I put 2 layers of glue on, the 2nd layer was in the opposite direction of the first.
After the glue dried for about 3-4 minutes but was still tacky I applied the material
-the nice part about this material is that you can peel it back up if you mess something up
After all the material was on the center piece I just found something that I could press it down in the glue with.
Then I trimmed all the edges leaving enough to attach to the inside, and made all of my relief cuts. I used to be a carpet installer so this was very easy for me. The main thing to remember is you can not have to many relief cuts.
After getting everything trimmed up nicely I took some Krazy Glue that had a brush in it and started to glue the remaining fabric to the bottom side of the pieces insuring it wouldn't lift off.

Pros:
Installed very nicely
Looks great and has a very nice feel compared to painted parts
Ability to fix your mistakes without tearing the fabric

Cons:
It's packaging
on some of the steep curves(very hard to see in the pictures) it was trying to come off of the piece
I believe I needed to use more adhesive in in any crevises.

I'll keep you all posted on how well it holds up.

Are you going to apply some clear coat of some sort to protect it?

It does look nice though. I must say. How much was the material per yard?

I like it. Looks great. I just wonder how tough it would be to keep the stock switches. I like that carbon vinyl though. Great stuff.

Very nice work, where did you get the material from?

Time to answer some questions:

I do not have any installed pics yet. I'm currently working on fiberglassing a holster for the FC Commander and moving some things around.

It's called Neff's Wrap and it was $35/yard.

The pictures make it look shiney but it's not in any way at all. It has a very nice feel and a great look.

I'll post some pics of the passenger side armrest today if it gets finished. You can stretch the stuff and it still looks good. And that armrest looks like a rollercoaster.

You can unscrew the switches, install the wrap, then put them back in. Just like I did with my ashtray. I ended up using some dishsoap to get it to slide back into place.
