Need help with 18x9 or 18x10 offset.

I am thinking about getting the Volk 57F-Pro and I am thinking about going 18x9 in the front and should I go with the 40 or 47 offset. The 18x10 I was thinking going 37 or 40 offset. Just curious if that would work.

I want the rims to look flush to the side of the car. I will roll the fender if I need to. I just do not want it to rub on anything.

Sorry guys, I searched and could not find anything specific. Thanks

Did you search on the "Suspension/Wheels" section?

Opps. I am stupid, I use the search engine, but posted in the wrong section.

I believe 18x9f will need +45 & 18x10 should be +40 - 42 offset.
I'm slowly starting to look into some rims myself, & will prob go with the same size ....

-42 offset will work perfectly. Thats what i;m using with my 18x10 volk sf-challenge wheels.

Well the problem with the front 57F-pro 18x9 is that it comes in only 40 to 47 and the rear 18x10 37,40,47. So I should go with a 18x9 47 front and could I possibly go with 37 with the rear 18x10?

i had volk TE-37's in rear on a 18x9.5 wheel, +40 offset with 285 30 18 tire and it never rubbed. Not even once on antyhing. This was a lowered car.
The fronts are always where the problems are. If you go with a more posative offset then +40 then you may need to do a couple things, especially with 18x10. First of all the stock trailing arms may need to be replced with the M2 type ones for clearance. Also the stock springs are sometimes and issue. Not so much how much the drop a car but thier diameter. If you go with coilovers you can get a inch and a half or more of clearance at the spring. Coil over springs are mich narrower and add clearance going inboard. The fronts are more difficult. I had to roll my front fenders. The rears are an easy fit if you use my sizes and offsets.
This is a proven combo without buying coilovers or trailing arms.

The fronts are much more difficult and I only ran 18x8.5 in front with 255 35 18 tires. I actually think the tire size was too big for the +40 offset in front. It hammered my fenders and liners. I even used a high rate spring with less drop and it still rubbed even after i rolled the fenders.

What i think you will need in the front is coil overs so you can tuck them in far enough not to grab the fender. Im tellin you right now the +40 offset with a 9 inch wide wheel in front will not work. Not unless its stock ride height, and even then I dont know for sure under hard driving.

I had se37a 18x8.5 in the fronts w/+40 offset & 235/40 tires.... they ripped the fender lip to shreds on each & every driveway. I ran tokico's (roughest setting out of 5) & eibachs, too.

I've read that ppl who go 10" width in the fronts use +50, so a +47 should be good for 18x9. Ideally, the shop that you order from should be somewhat knowledgeable or be able to contact Rays to get the right offset.

*I think Mild7 had gt-p's with 18x10 rear, w/+40 offset & no probs using 265 tires. You PM'd him about his rims, didn't you?

AbadR1 01-23-05 04:39 PM

The shop said if I use the 18x9 in the front with the 47 offset that when I make a U-turn that it would rub. He was suggesting 40 offset. However, I think now the 47 offset will be most suitable. Also, I think the 18x10 in the rear with the 40 offset is good and I should not go with the 37 offset that I was orginally planning on.

Yeah, I talked to Mild7, I was thinking about getting his rims. I am still debating...
