My FD with the F1Spec "Gias" Reclineable seat

$600 shipped from F1Spec with BRIDE RAils

Sorry, I don't have door panels, so I really can't tell you how the fitment is with door panels. These seats are really narrow. I'm a small guy and I can barely manage to get in and out of the car. If you're wide, I doubt you'll be able to sit in this thing comfortably.

looks like they fit well, just don't like the logo being white and where it is placed I would probably remove it. Also it looks like some of your paint on the bins is scratching off, is that what I see?

RISEN 07-17-07 07:57 PM

Yes, I don't like the F1spec logo. IT looks oddly p laced. As for the bins...unfortunately the paint got scraped off when I threw my toolbox on it.

looks tight (thanks for posting). I like their logo placement but don't like the red stiching. Can you tell what the material is or how it feels? How is the smell with the fiberglass? Did you weigh the seat (wondering the diff bet carbon/kevar)? Most important questions: How tall are you and have you tried sitting with a helmet on?

johgar 07-17-07 08:40 PM

Do you have pic of the seat rail?

As far as what the material feels like, I'm not too sure. I have nothing to compare it against, but the material is actually very good.

The fiberglass does smell kinda funny but maybe it'll go away?

The seat and seat rails and box weigh in at 51 lbs. So I'm assuming that the seat/rails weigh in at around 45 lbs.

I'm 5 feet 5 inches (Long back and short legs) and slim. It's a very tight fit, however, the seat sits very low so there's head room. I'm sure there's plenty of head room with a helmet, unless you have a super long back.

Unfortunately, I did not take a pic of the seat rail. However, I'm going to remove the seats sometime this week to reposition the seat belt buckle so I'll take a picture of it.

Downs:

1. Too narrow so it's hard to reach the shifter
2. Hip huggers are too high so I have a hard time getting in and out of the seat.
3. Didn't come with any bolts/nuts to attach the seat to the Bride seat rail so I had to spend some time and money to purchase bolts/nuts at Home Depot. I bought so you don't have to waste your time looking for the right bolts/nuts:

2 Bolts - 5/16, 1 1/4 inches long
8 washers - 1/4
2 nuts - 5/16
2 Bolts - M8 X 1.25mm X 1 inch long
2 nuts - M8 X 1.25mm

4. If you decide to use the OEM belt buckle, you have to bend this one tab and buy a bolt, 2 washers, and a nut. You can use 5/16 bolt X 1 1/4 inch long.

Also, if you use the OEM belt buckle, it hits up against the carpet so moving sliding the seat is a pain in the butt, because the buckle drags up against the carpet. You can probably remedy this by drilling another hole on the metal on the lower metal portion of the seat to situate the buckle up higher.

5. F1spec logo looks out of place

Ups (For me at least):

1. Material Feels nice ... better than the ripped up leather tan seat I had
2. Sits low

GoRacer 07-17-07 09:55 PM

You should try to air out the seat outside in the sun. Either sit on the porch with it next to you (so it doesn't run away) or the back yard if it's your own and fenced.

Well i'm 5-10" so the helmet fitting is still up for debate.

That's weird that the Bride rails didn't come with hardware. The rails are probably as heavy as the seat, if not more and the packing has to be at least 10lbs (maybe 15-20). I am curious how much heavier they are then the carbon/kevlar.

wow! that seems like alot, does anyone agree. I do not know the weight of the factory seat BUT if I was to change seats out I would want it to weigh less , not more. Maybe I am wrong about the weight though. Is that just one seat and rail that weighs 45lbs?

RISEN 07-17-07 11:02 PM

Ok, I think I am wrong about the weight. The 51 lb weight was the shipping weight according to FED EX.

The stock seat is actually a lot heavier than this seat.

RISEN 07-17-07 11:05 PM

1 seat

Can you show clearance to the door(I guess you can only do it with the panel off) and tunnel/shifter counsel?

johgar 07-21-07 12:07 AM

Are they bottom mount or sidemount?

RISEN 07-21-07 01:29 PM

seat rail mounts from the bottom. I will take more pictures fo the clearance. The distance from teh seat to the tunnel/shifter isn't too bad, but because I'm using the stock seat buckle, the buckle rubs up against the carpet so it's really hard to slide the seat up and back.

any updates on this, does it fit well wit the door panels on?

RISEN 07-26-07 03:01 PM

Sorry, I don't have any door panels...unless someone wants to give me their black door panels :)

RISEN 08-07-07 06:50 PM

Ok, I just bought black door panels. The seats clear the door panels PERFECTLY. There's maybe about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch gap between the door panel and the top part of the seat. I'll take pictures tomorrow.

RISEN 08-08-07 04:20 PM

Ok, pictures as promised:

GOTBANNED? 08-12-07 06:09 PM

im about the same height as you..how is visibility..do you sit real low?

Juan 08-12-07 07:12 PM

Do the seats hit the door panels when theyre slid all the way back? I'm 6'4" and I slide my seat all the way back then about 3 clicks forward. Can you snap some pictures with the seat all the way back (when you get a chance)? Thanks

They sit low because of the Bride bracket, but visibility is fine.
