Momo Race steering wheel installed...

350mm. Had narrowed it down between this and the 'competition' model and chose this based on the little inside 'finger knobs' at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions. Didnt weigh it but it is noticeable lighter than the Efini steering wheel I had on before. Big improvement in the 'feel' of the car and I have more leg room now, which is always a plus!

How much smaller is it compared to the stock wheel?

spandy 12-10-06 07:42 PM

I believe the stock is 380mm.

I plan on getting the race 3000 from momo. Now where to put those cruise buttons..........

Juan 12-11-06 04:25 AM

what seats are those?

DJF(NJ) 12-11-06 08:15 AM

Yes, stock is 380mm. The Efini model I had was 370mm.

wan----they are Recaros from the RZ model.

Very nice, I love my Momo............... Please tell how much better you think the road feel is now ? Steering wheel improvments are underated.

Well done interior, nice and clean..seats are sweet but holy expensive !

I like my Momo Race but I REALLY wish I got a Momo Model 78.

The Momo Race's spokes are not in the right position... they're far too low, so while your thumbs are at 3 and 9, your hands aren't (hands at 3 and 9, NOT your thumbs, they should be at 10 and 2-ish, and actually wrapped around the spokes). Also, the spokes are too wide anyway so you can't really hold it like a race wheel (Like the Model 78, Monte Carlo, or Mod 68).

Plus, my hands get sweaty and a suede wheel would have been much more practical than leather (besides wearing gloves that is).

It still looks good though...

It's difficult to describe really. It just makes you feel more connected to the road in one sense. Steering response feels more direct and communicative. It's comparable from going to the stock shifter to the short-shifter. wish I could explain more....it just has to be felt and driven to be appreciated.

What Steering Wheel Adapter Hub is that?

Where did you buy the wheel and adapter?

I've heard some bad things about them(mostly ebay) and I was wondering where I could pick a good one like that for my fc?

Wheel looks good!

What Throttle pedal is that? Looks nice as well.

You like it better than the efini? I am thinking of going to an efini, I just don't like the look of aftermarket race wheels as much. I like a more stock look. But not the stock USDM wheel, it looks like a wheel out of my dodge dakota.

BTW nice seats.

been looking for the same exact wheel for the FC
its definitely nice in your fd

ltbmotorsport.com. I called them up and they had both in stock with free ground shipping so it was a no-brainer for me.

Thanks! I honestly cant remember what throttle pedal I have. Someone was selling them here a couple of years ago with the dead pedal and I bought it. BTW, nice looking CYM.

Thanks! Well, I definitely like the feel better. As far as looks wise...ehhhh, the efini definitely matches the interior better. I'm with you man on the aftermarke race wheels. I've had this Efini wheel a few years and never wanted to get an aftermarket one. But I got seriously back into autox this past year and got the seats as well, so every little thing helps. It took me 2-3 weeks to narrow it down to this one. What I really wanted was the Mazdaspeed horn and carbon ring to go with it. I had seen it on websites for years, and just now I learned they're no longer available over here. If the Efini wheel was 350mm, I would have definitely kept it!

More of a seat pic, but you can see the efini wheel here:

I used to run one in my FC.
I'm tall, and without a spacer, my fingers would hit the turn signal and cruise control stalks pretty easily.
I had a custom 1.5" spacer in there, and it was close to perfect...
Except the top part of the instrument cluster was cut-off - i.e. turn signal lamps.
Yes, it's a 350mm, and it's also concentric.

I switch it out with an authentic R.E. Amemiya (green version), and I LOVE this thing!
It's 350mm (or slightly bigger), but it has the a slightly offset upward to get a better look at the instrument cluster.
The R.E. Amemiya wheel also has nicer grooves, and my hands love to grip it...more so than the MOMO Race.

Funny, I was also deciding between the Race and Competition, when I got the Race. :)

IMO the perfect spacer size is 2.5" (63mm or so), or slightly more... of course it depends on the person, but I'm average height for American Caucasians (just under 6').

...good luck actually finding a 2.5" spacer besides the NRG (Rapfix-style) quick-release spacer. But avoid the eBay ripoffs at all costs. They will work for about a week and then they will develop terrible back/forth play (lateral play is non-existent though).

I need to replace the one I bought... and since NRG hubs are expensive (and Rapfix hubs are ungodly), I'm gonna get a cheap (fixed) 50mm spacer off eBay (only one seller makes them), and put a 15mm MOMO OEM spacer on it to get 65mm.

The basic way of judging whether your steering position is correct is by seeing if you can put your wrists on top of the wheel without taking your shoulders off the back of you seat. I can only barely do this (my shoulder comes up just a little but otherwise it's perfect) with a 2.5" spacer (and a reasonable reclining of my seat), so I figure a little more spacer or a fixed bucket seat that will let me sit a bit more vertically (and still have headroom) will be perfect.
