Mariah Motorsports Wide Body Kit for 87-91 T

This is stupid, but I'm in a dilema. Has anyone bought and installed the Mariah Wide Body Kit from www.mariahmotorsports.com . If not please still check it out and tell me what u think of it. I am debating on buying one for my s4 Turbo. Is it worth the money? (USD 4000) If anyone has installed it, is it tough to install. Are there extra costs on top of the accuall wide body price. I dont have any body shop or body work expirience. I do know how to work on cars but i'm no expert, I have friends who are in body work and who could help me but most of it i imagine i'd have to do myself along with the other guy who also owns the car (he knows more then i do and is more expirienced, but again not with body work). Also how expensive with the installation would your estimates be? (without paint job)

P.S. to view the wide body kit, on the www.mariahmotorsports.com website click on gallery to view the pics and on products and then extirior and then 86-91.

P.S.S. Mariah Motorsports I think is an excellent company that is dedicated to rotory's and rx7's.

I have not installed that kit but I know the one you are talking about. Design Energy has been in buisness for years and they do have a good reputation. You may want to PM Bern on the forum because he drives a 1st gen with the Mariah conversion and he has driven the red wide body mode six pictured on there site.

You will run into more cost than just the body kit. The rear has to be molded on you will either have to learn how to do it or have you friend help you out. Then the whole car must be painted and GOOD paint jobs aren't cheap. Then you have to get wider tires and wheels that kit can fit 275-40's up front and 315-35's in the rear. If you have ever priced 17's or 18's that can accomidate that size tire you know you are into a couple of grand right there. Also you would have to do suspension work to make the car sit properly. And last but not least you will have to do engine work to back up the kits aggressive looks. No reason to have that wide of a wheel and tire combo if you can't turn it.

Thanks Hawk, yea i'm planning on boosting the power to about 300 hp, using nothing really serious, atleast nothing to make a none reliable engine, if i can run 14's on the 1/4 then i'm happy, (and after that engine goes out, i'd like to go with the 20b, but thats another post) the biggest thing i'm interested in, is gonna be the handling aspect, (wider is betta :) ). The shocks and tire aspect i understand and have am prepared for it. (i can get a great discount cuz i work for a tire and shocks store) The part that i'm not prepared for however is that whole welding or changing the back part of the car thingy. I can see some possible costs there and mess ups. Apart from the paint job, how much of a toll will the welding part take.

P.S. I will pm the rx7 wide body 1 st gen guy.

Once again thanks and please please please any thought on this is greatly appreciated.

Bern only has the airdamn

Im contemplating buy the widebody mode 1 kit for my 85.. and I can tell you now, I have body shop experience, and if it has to be molded into the body, you better have some experience :D

That can be somewhat of a pain in the ass.
