Impossible to figure out an 88 RX7 Radio replacement.

Hi,

I am trying to figure out how to replace the sound system on my RX7.

The problem is that the car came just with the wiring hanging. No radio, amps, speakers, etc..... So I do not know the setup.

The car is an 88 Coupe, with the Radio, Casette and power antenna. (NO CD)

I did get the stock radio and a black triangular box with a speaker inside that seems to connect under the dash.... (is that an amp?)

I CANT find anything that can show me how the stock sound system is on the car. So I have NO idea where the amps are or go. Same with the dash and door speakers.

Any links to a step by step install where I can see what was supposed to be on the car to begin with?

I already have the wiring diagram and the wiring color from the FAQ section....

Thanks!

Why don't you just install after market stuff and wire it up yourself. A good component set up front and a single 10" or 12" sub is more than enough for the little 2 seater. The rear tubs are a perfect place to hide your amp or amps...

The body electrical section of the FSM has locations of all the audio components.

If you want to use the stock wiring instead of running new wire, open up the stock amp for the front right speaker (the "triangular box" under the glove box) and splice the wires inside, bypassing the circuit board. Use the wiring diagram to splice the right wires together.

Could I just splice the wires at the harness and not have to use the amp box?

I have a generic aftermarket radio and speakers. Will I need amps if I use the stock wiring?

Thx

^ Ignore that message. I found the answer but the forum will not let me edit the post.............

I am going to do my own wiring with cheap speakers so I do not need amps.

I just do not know how to do with the antenna, but I will eventually figure it out.

Thanks!
