i dont need to pay some one to do a proper paint job, i rather learn how to do it myself. takes more skill to get the rattle can to look good then it does to get the other stuff to look good.

Why r ur turn signals sticking out that far. Just wonderin. Looks good though, if i didnt have decent paint, i would have done this.

I'm confused....so are you bragging about how your car looks or about how much effort you put in? Because to be perfectly honest, it looks like crap. If you really want to DIY, why don't you get an inexpensive sprayer/compressor and put REAL paint on there?

I really don't care for DIY painting projects. They almost always turn out looking like ass, so I figured this thread would be pretty half-assed. And while most of it was half-assed, the finished products are actually fairly good for someone on a budget. How much were the supplies all total?

wow. this forum really does have a bunch of assholes. just wanted to show the work i've done and the progress threw the years. and the achivement of making the paint work for me. the hood on the vert looks like ass? right... it looks no different then the finished paint on my caliber. but then i have to take into concideration that some of you havent read what i wrote.

there is no difference between REAL paint and the paint you can put threw a paint gun. it is real paint. i dont think they'd sell FAKE paint. its just a different type of paint that is in the rattle can. its not a paint you mix then spray. its a lacquer. and you can spray cars with lacquer.

What, exactly, looks like crap on the vert that he did?

60 for the sand paper and compounds and aplicators and 5 cans of paint
1 color
1 primer
3 clear

i just spent 30$ on primer and color and clear to continue on the fender that is flaking too. whole car is flaking and i wish to take care of it and its dents.

i have done my researche on this. and i have read that people can get a good life span out of their duplicolor paint if they maintain keeping it waxed like any other paint.

i belive macco uses lacquers instead of epoxy type paint aswell. doesnt say much, but they dont do good prep and post work to it

Cough...She. I like originality, there's not many ppl that would take the time to do something like that or try something different. I think the end result looks fine, it's just not my taste.

i think it looks very good for being a DIY with spray paint. from the pictures i wouldnt have been able to tell it was spraypainted if you didnt mention it. good job IMO.

i dig the color scheme and much props for DIY. I understand you wanted satin finish but DIY will not give will not give u the "show car" gloss that a real automotive paint job would.

the gloss/deep shine comes from the clearcoat not really from the paint itself. if you ever get all the dents out try putting on some layers of clear coat

hell ya i will. i'm going to strip it down and fix dents when i have it on stands for my tii swap :)

I apologize for the gender confusion, you automatically think "he" on this board. Be that as it may, that's the best damn thing I've ever seen for $30, I don't care what anyone says. I bet you could do the whole car for under $100. If possible, can you take some closer pics of it? I want to know if it looks good from far, but far from good. :)

hahah. ya. i'm a chick! but ya. it looks good from far. and up close! it feels great too! and hell.... ive been more a critict of paint jobs i see on stock cars. and shit.. i see more orange peal and swirls on stock paint jobs then i do on my own.....

you did an awesome job.. id never stick with it lol. id quit once i got a bump in the process. which would be why i haven't sanded down my fd. cause im too damn ass lazy to get off and do that and if i screw up i cant afford a new paint job as this car has sucked all my money. *my fd only has 33k miles on it. but its never been garaged in vegas heat :( which = worn interior and sun damaged paint.*

hey there was a guy earl shibe *sp* who would paint your car for 29.95 *whole car* windows wheels your car just goes through a painting machine and paints anything that is there. i think his business stopped that. and now is a pretty successful business but many unsatified customers.

I like it, better then primer and I like the scheme alot. I'm impressed that you were able to do that with cans, especially since they typically run. I'm also impressed more with you being female since most of the girls i've ever met have a hard time filling the tank, much less checking for oil. I say wet sand it, polish it and clear coat, then polish and wax.
