how to take out after market stereo? and some few more questions
 

i have a after market sony stereo that the PO had put in like 10 years ago
and id like to replace it with a modern one . it works great , but for 2000 :blush:

i pulld off the plastic trim around and i found this .( bellow Pic )
any one can shed some light on how to take it out ?


and the second pic , id like to know what part name is it.
its been missing forever and i like to put it in .

i belive this is the AC system .
its open in half , does that effect any thing ? how do i shut it back ?
does it require me taking it out ?
i have never used the ac in the car since i bought it during winter and i blew the motor befor i could use it in the summer

did try it out to see if it worked when i bought it from the PO
it blew cold air out .

for the stereo ya need some sony removal keys you can find em buy doing a Google search but i don't know what kind of sony keys ya need though if ya Google the stereo model number ya might be able to find a .pdf for install to see what keys it needs to be removed. Not sure how the dash around the stereo is removed on a fd but that might be easy-er than trying to find the keys then ya can just pull out the whole mount to unlatch the clips.

i found the PDF file but i can tell what kind of remove key it is, there is like 4 different ones out there. hmmmmm

I believe you can get a set of radio removal tools from Walmart or Harbor Freight.

Technically you can take a thin piece of plastic or metal and stick it in both sides at the same time and then pull the radio out. The pieces will need to be about 4" long, and fit into the slots on either side.

ok i got the key from sony and tried it out .
sticked it in both side, and try pulling, no help
wiggle it around no help, i was messing with it for almost 1hour and couldnt even make it move.

this POS is really pissing me off, is there any other way i can remove this POS sony stereo?

i dont mide breaking the stereo i just want it out of the slot!!

will by removing the dash help at all ?

ok nvm, i was sticking the key in the iner hole instead of the outer hole.
once i got it in it slided out like if it was on butter ....

now i feel like an ass.
