How to remove the stock tape deck in my 93 FD

I just bought a new cd deck for my car and I want to know the easiest way about getting the tape deck out. I know how to wire and I have the harness and Ive installed about a hundred decks in hondas and toyotas. My problem is Im nervous about breaking anything and Ive never taken apart an FD's dash and I would like to know the right way to do it. Or if you guys could point me in the right direction to find a diagram it would be greatly appreciated.

first, pop the 2 little plastic ~1/4" strips on the left and right side of the deck

this should expose 2 small holes per side. Either buy a "DIN removal tool" which is kind of a waste of money but works or use a bent coat hanger. Take a 6" piece of coat hanger and bend it into a U-shape. Jam this "tool" into the 2 holes on one side and it should stick. Once it sticks, you should be able to pull pretty hard and the stereo should come loose. Repeat for the other side. Its easy if you have the DIN tool or if you make one yourself.

I just pulled a stock head unit for a customer this weekend. As far as I can tell, it was NEVER removed.

That sucker was STUCK in there BIG TIME. I was also removing the radio console to replace it with a new part, so I pulled the console so I could get to the back of the stereo and pull on it. Came out with a big CRACK.

I'd recommend using the correct tools to pull the radio - should only be a few bucks at most any parts store. They have little hooks on the end that lock them into place so you can pull better.

I think you need to remove the CD player first, which pulls strait out pretty easy, then you can simply reach in and squeeze the clips on the sides of the tape deck and slip it out. That may just be the way I did it, its been a while.
