How to lower my seats?
 

I just purchased my first FD, an LS3 swapped chaste white Beauty. It's on a truck on the way here now, but I'm worried that at 6'3 I'm not gonna fit well, despite the car having seats from an EVO X in it which according to the PO sit about an inch lower than stock. I need more room. So, what are my options? The current recall seats are on stock rails, I guess they were modified to work with the seat. Can anyone point me to what parts or actions I need to take to lower this seat so I'm comfortable? I've got a 300ZX TT And fit in that no problem despite the fixed wheel, so I don't need much more room but would like as much as I can get.

i think at your height there will always be issues the FD doesn't favour tall people unfortunatly, if not with seat height with knees hitting the steering wheel.

if you google garage star seat rails they sell rails for the Fd3s that will mount you lower :) those are probably your best bet without modifying the floor pan. Also nagisa auto do super low seat rails, believe they are available from RHD Japan. Hope

Interested in following your progress bud because I have a similar issue (I'm 6'4). My car also has non-standard seats, but being a non-runner I haven't been able to test out driving/fitment yet.

For the seats I'll be looking at lowering the height and/or adjusting how far back the rails allow them to slide.

For the steering wheel, I've seen a few mentions on the forum of using a quick-release kit which works out like an extender, allowing the wheel to clear your knees!

I will post my progress too in the upcoming weeks soon as I get my car up and running...

In my miata, I took the skin off the seats, and carved some foam out then recovered them. Took an afternoon and helped alot. If you google Miata Foamectomy it will show the process.

I am hoping it goes well for you! I am in a similar situation. Steering wheel rubbing the legs. I was hoping a new seat / seat bracket and a smaller steering wheel would help

Guys over 6ft shouldn't consider buying an FD with a sunroof without first sitting in one. The non sunroof cars provide about an inch or inch and a half of extra headroom.

For me, personally, the headroom isn't the issue. Steering wheel rubs just above the knee. I am positive I can solve the problem with a smaller diameter steering wheel and lower the seat.

please post some pics when you get the car!! i have the same seats and want to install them on FD. looking for good brackets to go with it.
