How to fix broken interior clips?
 

I've been dealing with a bunch of cracked interior and exterior plastic parts that I'd like to fix. For example, the two front clips that hold the center console to the larger tunnel console part. Since FD interior parts are obscenely expensive, replacement is not an option.

I can get replacement metal clips, but the place where they attach to the panel is broken, and the slot they snap into on the tunnel console is broken.

Can anyone suggest how to fix the broken pieces, or what I might be able to do to replace the function of the clip?

Does plastic welding work for the softer interior parts? (like the panel surrounding the rear speaker) What kind of plastic welding works best?

Glue gun.

Relatively speaking, Mazda OEM parts (yes, even their plastic clips) are expensive. However, they are just plastic clips and despite the fact that they are overpriced, they shouldn't be out of reach, even for the most broke FD owner.

If this sounded like an asshole remark, please do not take it that way.

The metal clips are 0.94/ea. That's not the issue. The issue is one of two things:
1) the plastic the metal clip mounts to is broken.
2) the plastc the metal clip snaps into is broken.

Glue gun, eh? My experience with hot glue suggests it has poor adhesion and strength. Are you really serious?

You might wanna try using super glue with a brush instead. Some of my plastic that held the clips were broken and I just used super glue on it. The pieces are holding up fine atm.
