I took mine off last week, yeah they are ugly.
Its really easy, you can do your entire car in about one hour. and the striping was super hard. Here is what I did. You will need a heat gun, the type that blows air, hot air, maybe if your girl or someone has a hairdryer, that might work too. I have a makita heat gun. KEEP IT ON THE LOWEST SETTING, and move it over the striping a few seconds in a straight line, then back the heat off. Wear mechanics gloves or those pro ones, and the rub with your fingernail, it falls off, you may need to rub a little, but it comes off. You should get the hang of it fast, its simple. just dont hold the heat there 5 minutes, you know what i mean... USe quick heat movements, and there is no damage to the paint whatsoever. My twin brother removes decals from semi trailers and tractors, and heat guns are all they use. It just reactivates the glue and whallah, it all comes off. hope this helps |

3M Pinstripe removal tool. http://www.handsontools.com/image_ma..._5904_full.jpg I'd also suggest you go to a body shop and get a quote for them to remove the stripes. You'd probably be surprised how cheap they'll do it for, and if they fuck it up - they'll fix it. |
3M makes a giant eraser-like product that is used with your cordless drill. Works extremely well. BTW a simple search would have told you this, its a common question

just so you know that 3M eraser wheel left marks on my paint
but it didnt matter cause i was painting the car |
They buff right out, as long as you didnt apply gorilla-type pressure in your impatience to not let the tool work as designed.
