How do I get my antenna to work?

I just put a new head unit in my FD and i don't have a clue how to make my antenna work. The new head unit is a JVC Kameleon CD player butr it doesnt have two wires for the antenna. i can get it hooked up but it won't go up and down.

I don't know how it is in an FD but in my FC I had two connectors for the antenna, one female and one male. I used the one that fit onto the one on my deck. Also, if its power i think it uses a reversed power lead, meaning the stock deck sends a negative signal to the antenna not positive. You need a relay to switch the new decks positive to negative.

THe no-brainer / quicker way would to be to get the wiring harness adapters from crutchfield.com. They come with antennas and install manuals as well for the antennas.

They even made rear tower spacers so I could fit 6.5" speakers.

he is right about needing the relay. Go to the closest car audio shop you have near you and tell them you have an RX and need the relay to make the power antennae work, it is a common problem for a couple different imports. It should only cost you like $10 for a relay. Or go to a Radioshack and pick one up.

I got mine for $10 when I bought a mounting kit for my FC at Best Buy. They were close at the time, so I went to them.

Good luck, nice cd player. Got a JVC El Kameleon myself.

I'll try that.
Thanks

ok you cant just goto best buy and buy one of these. You can buy the relay but it needs to be wireded as a negitive trigger. I work there and we would charge 25 dollars for the relay and to install it.

All you have to do is ground the power antenna wire, from the deck and the antenna.
