Help! Stereo squeals with the engine!
Hello,
I just bought my FD about a month ago. I hadnt noticed (since i have been working on it non stop) until yesterday when i took a long drive that my sound system makes this high pitch noise proportional to my RPMS!!! The car came with 2 big aftermarket amps and 1 sub. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks |
you need to properly ground your grounds, make sure the ground is touching bare metal, if its sitting on paint than you need to sand the paint to bare metal for the ground. If all your grounds check out, your probably missed one but you could just ass a ground loop isolator as last resort. But i would be willing to bet you need to just fix one of the grounds.

Yeah, check all your ground connections first. You're getting alternator whine through the stereo. I think they make noise filters to help eliminate those noises if you can't get rid of it. Stereo shops probably sell them.

Do not cross power wires with speaker wires or line our RCA cables. To prevent this I have the power for my battery relocation down the drivers side and RCA and speaker wires on the passenger side. For my amp turn on power I ran that through the center shift console to the trunk. The only reason for this is the door speakers are tapped in to the stock wiring and I did not want the amp 2ndary power wire to run close to them.
Most important: Do "not" use the black ground in the factory harness. You will want to conenct to the ground wire that is connected to the frame behind the head unit! |
I agree with all of the above. It's a ground issue. Never use a factory ground!
