Help: Painting All Interior

Hey there everyone, I am new to these forums, as I just Got my RX7 day before yesterday (1990). It used to be a audio competition car, and it came with 6 sony 302 amps, 2 capacitors, and 4 Sony Xplod Subs. As you may be aware, this stuff is older, and its sony.... lol. I haven't really had the funds to change all of it out, but I did put in 4 MTX Roadthunder 6000 Subwoofers instead of the sony ones. Anyways, what I was going to say is that, I seem to be moving away from the general bright red look of which the interior is, as my new subs are silver in color. looks as though the small casing or mould which each piece of the audio equipment is sitting, is made from fibreglass. So I started thinking of redoing it, cause the paint isn't the greatest any longer, and then a thought came across my head that maybe I should deck out the whole interior, seen as how the Audio Layout behind the seats/In the hatch was pretty cool. I thought of either making it two or 3 colors... 2 colors being white and red, or silver and red. 3 colors being all three of those. Anyways, if I do this, I want to do the whole dash, and I am wondering, there is that layer of foam on most of the interior which makes it a soft surface. Now I am stuck wondering if there is a primer/paint/clearcoat combo which i can put overtop this with a small bit of sanding on the previous finish without it chipping off, or if i would have to rip off all the foam and maybe build it up again by putting some fibreglass on the plastic underneath to restore it to the same size as before? can someone help me? Thank You.

well you can do anything you want really. I say buy a interior off another member either black or blue and swap that. A lot less work.

Ohh and your gonna get flamed for rice soon

well better to have the intior all match with the audio equipment and have a nice looking setup if you want to enter a competition right? its not that I'm just making the car look nice, and keep it stock under the hood to impress people, it's just serving a different purpose.

I would install a stealthy JL 10", go back to stock interior and cal it a day. Post pictures once you're finished with whatever you decide to do.

ok, ill be the first to say, sounds like rice. Honestly, how much weight does that much stereo equipment add to the car??

First suggestion: Remove all audio equipment except for a decent head unit, and some quality speakers. No amps, no subs.

Second Suggestion: Get an all black leather interior. Awesome functionality, awesome looks. Stay away from the flashy techno audio crap.

Third suggestion: Take the money you were about to spend on useless audio equipment, and put it into performance parts for your car. Faster is always, ALWAYS better than louder.

hey, some people like car audio stuff. Just cause it's your opinion doesn't mean he should automatically follow it. A good pair of speakers, a small sub and amps to run them make a world of difference in terms of music in your car, and I haven't noticed much weight difference.

Only if I was actually racing my car in autoX or drag would I totally strip my car
