help installing head unit, with rca plugs

Hey guys I have a bit of a dilema. I bought a cheap cd/dvd player and it turns out it has rca jacks rather than a normal harness like others ive dealt with. Is it possible to hook this up without an external amp? I dont really have the money for one right now. DO I just ignore the stock harness? HELP!!!!!

okay I've been installing stereos for 10 years, I've gotten this question alot.
Are you familiar with those add on cd changers that are "universal"???
they use a little display screen mounted somewhere to controll the CD changer.
Well theose use a $30 "Fm modulator". With it all you do is set your radio to a specific station and it transmits the sound through your radio.......

You dont understand, I am talking about a headunit. There is no radio in the car, therefor nothing to transmit to. I want to hook up this dvd/cd player to ym car which has no existing stereo.

Not sure but the CD/DVD most likely does not have an internal amplifier. You woud need to buy an amp to drive your speakers.

So it has power wires and RCAs and that's it? If so, there is likely no internal amp; therefore, you'll need an amp (or amps) to power your speakers/subs.

Oh, I see.......yeah there is no amp in that thing you have just like the other members indicated..You will need to get a headunit.
Unless the DVD player you have has a volume control built in then you cannot just connect it to an amp. You will need a headunit.
