Got my Veilside Fortune kit in woohoo

He guys I just got my veilside fortune kit in earlier and im very excited to get it to the body shop and get it done. when i opened the boxes there were nearly no instructions and the ones that were in there were in black and white with very poor lighting in the poor quality photos. I'am having someone else do the install of the kit since im nowhere near qualified to do it.( sucks to be them) but i at least want to put the headlights togethers the problem is there are no instructions and im a little reluctant to try the trial and error procedure on this kit. does anyone have any idea how to do this or did those of you that have the kit just have a body shop do all the work. I appreciate any input anyone has and thanks in advance guys.

I'm sure most body shops should be able to do this, but if not a body kit specialist. If its an original fortune kit then its safe to say that things 'should' line up and there won't be too much playing around to make it fit.

If its a knock off then chances are you'll need to spend a bit extra to align things etc. I've seen a thread before of someone who has this kit on their car so might want to run a search and ask him personally.

Out of curiosity how much did this kit set you back? I think the kits a personal choice although many here will not like this kit or will say that you should have spent the money on 'go' then 'show'.

I don't think anybody makes a knockoff of the fortune kit. ;)

A: Who cares if many not here will like it? If many like stock looking RX-7's more power to them. B: You can have money for show and go, they don't have to be mutually exclusive.

agree~ imagine a veilside fortune FD with 3rotor TT... looks more exotic than a ferrari and faster too~ and most people won't know what car it is (except maybe as the Fast n Furious car that blew up)

At first I didn't like the kit when I saw it in the movie, but it's grown on me and I like it more now. Not that I would do it to my FD, but if I had 2 or 3 in the front yard like Phil does in Alabama, I'd get the kit (also if I had enough money to keep 2 modified FD's running :) )

Try giving him a PM.

sounds good make sure you post pics when installed :icon_tup:

VeilSideBrian 11-15-07 12:28 PM

man, i hope nobody makes a fake.
there are only a handful of kits out in the States right now.
and it isn't cheap, so not every single person can afford it.

For this kit, I would highly suggest a body shop for all the work.
Every piece basically works in conjunction with one another.
You have to get everything lined up properly.

GregsFC3S 11-18-07 12:22 AM

wow, congrats. aren't they like 10k or something?

RISEN 11-18-07 10:02 AM

You're a baller! Post up some pics when you get it done! And please paint it 1 tone...I've only seen 2 tone Fortune RX-7s!

HonDaKillaH 11-19-07 08:33 PM

does anyone have any pics of this kit with one solid color? i would like to see that too.

purerx7 11-19-07 08:55 PM

pigme1000000 02-13-08 04:15 AM

might have bin better off buying a proper one from japan, like i did...

fixa 02-17-08 08:22 AM

Great choice. Is the entire kit fiberglass?

VeilSideBrian 02-18-08 11:19 AM

Most of the kit is FRP, however, some parts are in carbon.

The front "flap" of the front bumper is carbon and the headlight housings are also carbon.

I gotta agree I didn't like the kit when I first saw it because it takes away the naturally beautiful curves of the 7 .... but it grew on me and now I'm wanting to make mine a fortune 7 haha but I don't have the mulah for the kit...I'm wanting to take a body shop class next year of at the end of the year at a nearby college so I would do the install ... if anyone knows of any place I can buy a knock of please let me know....

Supernaut 06-30-09 03:41 PM

Im pretty sure there are knock offs availible. I've heard of poor quality knock offs having fitment issues like someone already mentioned on the thread and even from the shop that did the installation.

GTCboyx7 06-30-09 04:17 PM

if you want my brother and I will do it for you.. but the problem is that I live in OHIO, but my brother work in the body shop for around 10year, and we put a couple of wide body together, and we do a lot of car on the side so we have experience with aftermarket stuff. if you decide to take to a body shop, most of them will not want to do it, or they will charge you double for aftermarket/customize stuff. so if you are interesting I would love to put it together, pm me and let me know. in the future I want to make my conversion of my fd to the Porsche light like the Japanese

7passu 10-30-09 11:43 PM

Veilsidebrian....how much does this kit weigh?

VeilSideBrian 11-02-09 05:49 PM

We have never put everything on a scale actually.
I would have to guess that it doesn't add much weight to the car. A lot of the factory metal must be removed, so you have a lot of weight loss in those areas.

cuhrupt 11-03-09 04:38 PM

congrats man!

An ongoing Fortune build in a solid color:

Mattdes26 11-30-09 07:31 AM

The weight i believe would be very comparible to the stock weight. The stock rear hatch and hood each weigh over half the weight of the veilside stuff.

VeilSideBrian 12-08-09 03:59 PM

Hey Fortune owners, we just got a crazy one-off FRP/Carbon Fortune front bumper here if somebody wants it. The middle and bottom parts (the areas where most people paint black) are carbon fiber.
