Found a good wax for my lightly faded FD.
 

Well the paint on my fd itsnt really bad but its showing its age pretty good and the spoiler and rear view mirriors need repainting. I buffed and polished then waxed my car and even used a $30 wax on it and still looked a little faded. Well, The other day I was in wall-mart and seen this turtle wax polish for cars. They have silver, black, red and green. I bought the red for mine since mine is red. Its also comes with a chip stick that I have not tried yet. I put a good coat on it and the paint looked lots better than all the other waxes I tried. Made the color alot more deeper. I am not sure how long it last. But, worked great for me.

I've tried it before and it washed off after one time. Also, applying it caused weird oily like streaks to show at different light angles. Could just be me but that was my experience with it.

Decided I just need to save for a paint job. It did work for the short term though.

I ended up trying this stuff out on my silver FD...

The chip stick does a good job of filling in small scratches, but its shade of silver is much lighter than my FD's, which makes the spots where it's applied stand out...not a good thing. I was hoping that the silver polish would cover it up, but it didn't.

The silver polish/wax itself worked fairly well. It seemed to improve the color and appearance of the paint and I was happy with it for about a week until I saw what 'evot23' was referring to...weird oily streaks at different light angles. Oh well, it was worth a try but it's back to regular wax for me.

Have you tried a light wet-sand on the paint using a #2000 paper? Then buff it out with a swirl remover, and finish with a glaze before waxing. I use 3M stuff, and my paint is amazing. Sometimes the faded finish needs a more serious 'revival' effort.

Haven't tried that but I'll give it a shot. Any other tips?

i have the exact opposite problem guys... my car has some wax build ups on it that i can't get off (i considder it opposite since you're lookig for something to go on, i need something to take it off). is there any kind of chemical wax remover that i could used to get this stuff off? its on the rasied lettering in the lights and turn signals, its on some of the rubber (that will get replaced) between body panels and it even does a nice job of highlighting the knicks in the paint... white wax residue and a montego blue paint job... you can imagine how bad that looks... its like a huge red pimple on the tip of an albino persons nose. any suggestions?

Take it to a detailer, they have stuff that will strip all your old wax but no damage the paint.

i use the maquires gold class prep it works with the gold class wax. Its kinda hard to find i got mine at pep boys and thats the only place that i've seen sell it, but it does an amazing job.

i used magiures before and still do sometimes, but a friend of mine introduced me to pinnacle wax its really good stuff, i find this real brings out the red, really enhances the colour.

also use the meguires gold class wash as this does not take wax off, as some of the other products do.

I use s100 polish thenn s100 wax and car looks like a mirror.Or try moose wax it is great cause it leaves no white crap in the cracks.

Liquid Glass and s100 are great for adding shine to a good finish. However, I think these guys need something more abrasive.

If you want to get rid of wax, the answer is simple. Wash with Dawn (liquid dish washing detergent). That will remove all wax and take you down to the clearcoat/paint.
