Depends on what you're using your car for.

gorillabrothers 09-05-13 07:58 PM

Agreed they do a wonderful job in keeping the heat in. Comes in handy in those cold winter nights

TonySeagle 09-06-13 11:46 AM

Best hood hands down is the Feed or Feed replica hood. It resembles the hood on a Jaguar XJ220. Hotness.

Modified with proper vents to extract the heat, still look good, and do not *need* to use hood pins like most do with after market fiber glass hoods

Yuck. I hate the two longitudinal lumps after the vents. Looks like a couple of pillows under the bedspread.

Best vented hoods IMO are the Mazdaspeed and the RE Amemiya AD9. The KS and Panspeed GT2004 are good too. The FEED is nice looking, but proven not very functional (the vents are too far back and suffer from high pressure area in front of windshield, just like removing the weather strip on the stock hood.)

What's your thought on the R Magic hood? I can not makeup my mind about it. I like it, but it seem to look difficult to hold down. Every hood I have seen is held down by pins. Your thoughts?

^^^

That's the one I'm referring to. I personally think it's hideous.

Peruvianrx7 09-09-13 10:36 AM

not my cup of tea...

MR_Rick 09-09-13 11:18 AM

If I had to go aftermarket on a hood, Feed or Mazdaspeed. Feed would be my first pick. The closest you will get to OEM look. Otherwise stock.

gorillabrothers 09-09-13 11:24 AM

I am not big on r magic anything but that hood above any other look sick.

Focal2x 09-13-13 12:55 AM

I love re amemiya's hood. The vents are functional.

^This +1! The Amemiya hood is just pure sex.

How is it on cooling down the bay.

Prôdigy2nd 09-24-13 02:11 PM

I dunno, how we'll DO YOU think it'll work, since it's your car and your money...

Dreamworks Racing's hood is still my absolute favorite (took much effort to get it stateside). In its case, function follows form IMO.

It will hold down with a stock front hood latch. The angle of the front half of the hood is angled forward/down enough aerodynamically to keep it down at high speeds as long as there's minimal gap between the hood and front bumper.

You see hood pins in the pic because that is R-Magic's competition car. They removed the stock hood latch for weight savings and the V mount IC frontal brace is bolted where the hood latch would normally be.

the 2 bumps in the middle back of the Vents are to help pull hot air from the turbo VIA cowl so the hot air doesn't circulate forward towards the IC then out of the front vents.

Oun

Thanks, that's really is very informative. I was unaware of the details behind the placement and functions behind the hood. I was just wondering as to why on their web site they mentioned, better yet the recommend the use of hood pins for install. Thanks for the heads up.
