What do you use to make the form on to where you lay the fiberglass? I have heard there is some maleable fabric that you can shape and it stays like that.

oh yea.... looks good :bigthumb:

Click onto my webpage below. I did a step by step showing how I did it. Vote on my page while your there.

Ok, I looked at it and understand the felt usage. Now I have another ? though. How did you secure the top frame with the sub in it to the bottom tub part?

The fiberglassing part is the easy for me. Thats all I did at my last job. I just need to figure out the rest.

That FB looks brand new man! Great great install too btw, I kinda want to do that in my FC, but I think I'm going to wait and try it out on someone else's car first. The only criticism I have is that I doubt you'll get in the 140-145 range with 1 12" type-r in a SEALED box. Especially if you're measuring from under the dash like you should.

Damn that's PIMP. I'm gonna have to do that sometime. :)

It's not one 12" Type R. I have 2 12" ZR Alpines in my bins and the new sub is a 15" Type R. The 2 12's are getting the juice from an JBL GTS600, each sub is 4 ohms. The Type R is getting juice from another GTS 600, the sub is DVC 2 ophms a side. With all 3 of my amps I have around 1300 watts. I should have 140 db's easy. My webpage has the whole write up.

Fumanchu, you staple the felt onto the wood part then fiberglaa over it. You have an incredable bond when it's all said and done.

But in the pics when it's out of the car it seems like it is separate and you never show a step putting the bottom and top together.

Felt stapled to the sides.

I soaked it with fiberglass resin before I took it out. Let it dry 24 hours before doing anything.
Its hard to the touch and sturdy enough to pull out and put the fiberglass in.

This is a picture of it with 3 layers of fiberglass.

Hope this helps. If not email me.

Thanks, I get it now... I was thinking the tub was a separate piece.

sectachrome 05-28-04 02:38 PM

looks nice, but why the hell do you need 2 12"s AND a 15" in a tiny ass FB? thats a little overkill...

John64 05-28-04 02:51 PM

The 12's are for rock, the 15 is for Rice killing. I put a switch on the remote turn on lead to the 15. I can turn it on and off when ever.

How much did that all cost you?? Also how much do you think you saved by doing it all yourself.. Awesome work man!

John64 05-30-04 08:27 PM

Total cost of the enclosure was around $180 for materials. To have some one do this would be around $400 easy. Remember I had to buy the sub $220, plus I had an extra amp already, still $300. So allot.

i would like to get somthing like that for my spare tire
