A few quick (hopefully) audio questions...?
 

So my radio hummms. The faster I drive the louder the hum. I have a inline Pyramid Noise suppressor / Isolation Transformer that was in the glove box when i bought the car. I believe it plugs inline on the RCA jacks from the radio to the amp. Will this solve the humming...???

It also has a old Kicker Stillwater box w two 8" woofers that are completely SHOT. I went on ebay and searched: Kicker 8" and so many different types came up. Is the more expensive ones really worth the extra $$. The difference to me seems to be the ohms...???

195views... I'm going to buy 8" Kicker. Less ohms.. And plug this suppressor thing in to find out. I thought maybe there was some sorcery behind these kind of things.

with a 30 year old sound system it is a wonder that you don't hear messages from GOD.

the noise is most likely from the electrical system and it needs a suppressor to the radio..
I am not sure about the FB system so I can't tell you about that extra 8 inch woofer thing that you are running.
If it is self amped then that may be it too come to think of it.

I just went nuts and pieced a system together for my car and don't rely on any of the old wiring to support it..at all.

Check all grounds. Sounds like a ground buzz to me.

2nd. I've never been able to get a noise filter/suppressor/isolater or whatever you want to call it to successfully get that dreaded alternator whine.

You either have a loose/bad ground or you have a moderately high power source/supply wire too close to your RCAs.

Take out the Pyramid Noise suppressor / Isolation Transformer and plug your RCAs directly into your headunit. Do you still have the humming sound?

If so, try grounding your RCAs to your radio to try and break that ground loop.

So I finally found some time to mess with her. The power and the RCA were literally ran the same exact path. I separated the two and humming is now GONE..!! No noise supressor / filter / extra grounding needed.

Next problem is... the output for speakers off the amp, R side is crackling. The left side is fine and it's hooked up exactly the same...? Any ideas...??

That could be a few things, do you have a 2 channel or 4 channel amp? If a 4 channel, do both right side speakers crackle?

I'm guessing it's a two channel..?? It doesn't say anywhere on the amp itself and the speaker output has a (L- L+ R- R+).

It's feeding a 6x9 and a 8" in series for each side. R side is currently unhooked bc of crackling. L is working fine.

What is the make model? Based on your L/R note I agree with it being a 2 channel.

How many speakers are in the car? 2 6x9 and 2 8"?

Off the AMP: Two 6x9's and two 8"s. One 6x9 & a 8" Right / One 6x9 & a 8" Left.

Everything is Kicker. Amp is Kicker Impulse and it doesn't say anywhere the amperage, model # IX702. It's pretty compact. 8" x 10" x 2"

Do you hear the crackling in both the 6x9 and 8" on the right side, or just one of the two speakers?

Meaning just a 8" to amp R crackles... just a 6x9 to amp R also crackles.

I don't know how else to describle it.. Cracking pulse.

Your diagram made me look for the chart of how I rewired it. And yesss come to find out the chart I've been following is the actual instructions for the amp.

I think the amp is too small to power everything. Just the left alone does sound sweet. :)

Your diagram is parallel. I followed the actual 6x9 instrustions and wired a 6x9 and a 8" in series for R off amp and the same for L.

I think the amp is underpowered. Directions are showing a capacitor w a woffer 4 ohm minimum....? < I don't know what that means yet.

I do know the new 8" I purchased to start this thread each have an Impedance Selection Switch. This is sorcery to me.

Ahhhhhh I love reading directions. Sorry for the babbeling.

Regardless of speaker impedance, to me it sounds like either the R channel on that amp is going out or there is an issue with the RCA input. What I was getting at was trying to eleminate a bad speaker or speaker connection.

I would try these:
-Flip your RCA at the amp, see if the crackle goes away. If nothing changes flip them back
-Flip your speaker wires coming out the amp. If the crackle jumps to the left side then you'll know the issue is the channel on the amp and not an issue with the speakers or speakers wire on the right side.
