FEED Front Bumper : Deesan's Version

4 Attachment(s)
Welcome in my thread people,

alright so before I post the pictures, let me introduce you to my project. A couple of years back, I bought an FD and well from the beginning I knew I wanted to modify the car. Eventually, I started looking around at all the body kits available on the market for the FD3S and that's when I first discovered the kit offered by FEED. No need to tell you that I instantly fell in love with it. Not long after that I finally decided to purchase the front bumper, skirts as well as the front fenders. After having the kit installed, I soon realized that the kit as a whole wasn't all that great and had many design flaw... parts that didn't really match overall. Since that day, everytime I would have the FD in mind, this problem would come up in my head bugging me. At first I tried to look out for another kit that would do it for me, but I just couldn't go past this sexy bumper which is different from all the bumpers offered by the other companies. So I decided to think all of this over and I that's when I started thinking that hey, maybe I could simply modify the bumper the way I want it and imo the way it should have been designed by FEED. I know, that many on here think the same way I do when it comes down to this bumper, you love it but you can't stand the "triangle" that doesn't match anything.

So I got to work and with my basic photoshop skills I was able to create a good rendering of what the bumper should look like. I even bought a second bumper especially for this particular project.

Fine you say, but what's in this for us ?

Well the real project is to have this bumper mass produced, not only that, but I also want to make it polyurethane if enough people show interest in it.That would mean bye bye cracks and a bumper able to take a beating. Especially good for guys rolling extra low like me.

Alright enough with the boring blabla, time for pictures .... :icon_tup:

Alright guys, that sums it up I guess... Maybe I'm crazy, maybe not?! Share your opinions and we'll see !

thanks for looking
-Dee

shine mentioned this months ago and he was planning on a newer version of the feed, very similar to your idea.
I like it i must say .. I will have my car painted soon so i might do this modification

silverfdturbo6port 04-02-12 12:51 AM

that is PERFECT. If that was offered right now id have the whole feed kit on my car in a heart beat. but that little part you removed is the part i hated the most and i hate that part on the 99 spec front lip as well

jaaf 04-05-12 04:43 PM

Hahah it is, but I'd like it lower... if only it was possible!

RCCAZ 1 04-10-12 03:13 PM

Are you planning to fabricate your own flat-style chin spoiler as shown in the pics?

DeeSan 04-10-12 04:03 PM

Yes, it's part of the plan sir!

Kiku 04-14-12 11:16 PM

rotary_rob 04-19-12 01:17 AM

good luck DeeSan

Looks great! Funny how a simple mod, like removing that triangle piece, transforms the look of the car  I'll keep an eye on this thread :icon_tup:

rotary_rob 04-26-12 10:40 AM

I like the erebuni bumper too

it would be nice to see the rear of the front wheel arch pulled back more in line too.

i see your photoshop skills and raise you my ms paint skills

it doesnt have to be as extreme as i have tried to represent it but with the triangle bs out of the way, it really looks like the bumper terminates too early at the wheel well, if that makes sense.

ZE Power MX6 04-26-12 12:11 PM

Not a fan of that triangle either, can't wait to see your result.

hahah ms paint FTW !!!

I perfectly understand what you mean. I'm a bit busy atm but I'll shop it asap and report back!

I'm going to put the OEM fenders and hood back on to make sure the bumper fits like a genuine mazda bumper. All because I like quality and only quality.

Anyway, glad you guys like the idea! Also, If anyone else has a suggestion go ahead and say it.

UPDATE
I finally found someone competent who can do the job. According to this guy's schedule, he should begin working on the project first week of May.

Rob XX 7 04-26-12 06:40 PM

Always wondered what custom polyurthane parts cost to produce, have you done research into that yet?

stevensimon 05-09-12 11:25 AM

updates?

DeeSan 05-13-12 10:19 PM

Alright so today I had an appointment with the guy and the project is on :)

I know it's not that much of an update but I have nothing to show you atm guys.

I'll keep you posted as the project evolves!

Also we will look into replicating the rear quarter lower front angle like Steven mentioned .

rough estimate would be 10-15k according to the guys that produce the aerosync bumper (Z33).
