Been thinking of head units again...

Do all of the mounting brackets / cages attach to the HVAC panel? Or are they supposed to attach to something stronger behind that trim piece?

I would expect paper cones to do a warmer bass than new 2-ways, but I remember always being impressed with the response and volume of bass my 6.5 alpine 2-ways put out.
I'm sure once you match the front pair it will sound more natural and you could fiddle with the head unit to warm it up.

please educate me if you can.. so is there 2 differnet size to rear speakers? this link says 5x7 6x8. and specifies it's 5x7

some other links says 6x8. I see alot of speakers have the label mentioning 5x7 6x8 at the same time. is it one or the other lol so confusing to me. rear speakers fits both size ?

5x7 and 6x8 speaker sizes are interchangeable

Anymore suggestions? I recently removed my old single DIN JVC unit. Car is bare.

I'm planning to switch to 6x9s in the future. I bought some 6x8 Fosgates and they sound terrible. The same priced (cheap) 6.5 components in the front door sound amazing compatibly . I don't know why it is but most if not all 6x8s sound terrible. I had $20 6x9s in my first car which was loud as shit(69 Camaro) so I had to turn it up so loud just to here the music and it distorted waaaaay less than the tears I have now. One project at a time tho.

Abandoning my exterior for a bit, and working on my stereo with Amazon gift cards. Do most double din systems fit depth wise in the Bose stereo slots? Looking at a pioneer avh290, but someone with a Silverado said it was too deep for their dash. I know FDs are rather shallow too. Thanks for any help. Btw, plan on using Bluetooth for 90% off my music so cd or hd radio didn't matter too much.

Update on speakers - I think I should have gone with the Alpine's. The Focals sound nice but not much base. I think the Alpines had better bass at the expense of less clear mids and highs.

Exact same size as my AVH-X4700BS, so yes it will fit.

I think Alpine's won't help with bass either (and generally hardly any other door speaker would do), I've them in my dd car and they are mostly mid/highs with little bass, then of course I've a separate bass speaker too.

I'm searching for a nice sub box. Seems like no one makes anything for this car.

So between alpine and focal .. which one would you pick if you were to do it all over again? How bout both .. 1 front 1 back lol

I can't comment on Focal, except it's a well regarded brand.

I really liked some Alpine 2 ways I used to have. Turned them into bookshelf speakers eventually and they were solid. Plenty of bass.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I have a question.

Based purely on specs (primarily frequency range & power handling) Pioneer seems to make fantastic speakers for the price. Example:

Pioneer TS-D65F: 32Hz-49kHz, 90W RMS, $120 (yes I know you can't hear much over 20k)
Alpine S-S65: 70Hz-22kHz, 80W RMS, $120
Alpine X-S65: 55Hz-50kHz, 110W RMS, $550
Focal Auditor ACX 165: 60Hz-21kHz, 60W RMS, $120-140
Focal Performance PC 165: 60Hz-20kHz, 60W RMS, $440

Nothing even gets close to the range of the Pioneers (this seems to be true of many of their speakers, not just the one above), yet they are inexpensive and I don't hear people mention them very often.

What am I missing?

Probably material differences. Yes, the range is there, but how much distortion is there? Is that driver really actually efficient/responsive across the entire Hz range? That's such a wide range I would think it's more of a jack of all trades master of none type speaker.

So I have a some pioneers and notice that the highs and mids, particularly the voice/words don't come thru very well. I have a JL sub so base doesn't matter. What door speaker would help most with the highs/vocals without having to crank the volume to 25?
Btw, I have a 4 channel for the door and rear speakers already, isn't helping with the doors.
