FD: Cutting metal bracket behind stereo
Trying to fit my flipout indash tv. I've noticed the need to cut out the bracket that supports the stock head units. For those of you that have done this, how did you do it and were you able to do it without removing the a/c control panel?

What??
Which brand did you choose...they are all near identical in length. I put a Pioneer N2 in just fine, no cutting. |
i used some pliers bending it till it broke, i have a pioneer avh6500. After that it fit fine.

I had to remove mine. After a long while of fighting with it and bleeding I finally cut it in half with wire cutters and then bent each half back and forth. They snapped off cleanly at the spot welds. I did it through the din openings; didn't remove the climate control panel.

Exactly the type of answers I was looking for. Thanks.
I have the MP3Car unit (not the Xenarc). I needed a unit with as plain a face as possible so it does look like there is anything there. My main issue with it is that in won't slide in an acceptable amount with a computer VGA cable connected to the back of it. |
Could you post some pics when you are done. I'm planning a VGA touchscreen as well and was wondering how well it will fit.
