danger will robinson! i see ricer label fast approaching on the horizon!

i dunno man... i try not to be negative on here (i think) most of the time, but those things look really chincy to me. its like all black dash and then BAM two big honkin' silver chunks in the middle of it. if they had like black highlights or grip or something on them i'd be all for it but day-um.

I personally think that they're a little over the top, although with your current interior I could also see it being a nice complement. maybe find someone with some photoshop experience to alter your photo above to give you an idea of what it may look like?

SEPORT!!! :) Don't do it man, don't do it.

If the knobs were anodized black they'd look nice.

broken knobs.

What if your knobs are broken and the aluminum ones are the only alternative? I mean, is there another choice out there?

If you've got a broken knob you might want to get it looked at. I would certainly not let everyone know here that your knob is broken! :rlaugh:

If your knob is broken, just pull on it till it cums out. That should make it feel better :rlaugh:

I've never seen those before, but I'll have to keep them in mind. I wish they looked a little less like they came straight off of a CNC machine, though.

Honestly, I've never been a big fan of the large expanses of black plastic in the interior of our cars. And I know I'm opening myself up as flame bait here, but similarly I've never been a fan of the amber backlighting, either. I know some people love it.

Some people will say, if you make a mod that isn't directly tied to performance it's "rice." While I'm not trying to get into what counts as a "ricer mod", I will say that a clean interior, even if it's not stock, adds a good deal to my overall impression of a car. I feel that the FD has some room for improvement in that area, whether you call it rice or not. That said, I do like the brushed aluminum look you're going for as long as it remains tasteful, which so far yours is. Now back to the topic at hand.

These pieces could make a good addition, but the more I look a them, the less I like the design as is (see my above CNC comment). I agree with a previous poster that three aluminum knobs in the middle of a completely black dash might be a little too stark. Plus, the three bright circles are going to create an immediate focal point right there in the middle of your dash. Looking at you interior as a whole, no where else in the interior are there solid circles like that. Repeating similar elements will help unify your look (like they were designed to be together), whereas using random elements will make it look like you just threw a bunch of parts together. I can see two options that may make those fit in more with the interior as it is now:

  1. You could paint the flat, circular part of the knob black, with the part you hold remaining raw aluminum. That would tie them in better with your shift knob and the steering wheel.
  2. You could do similar to above, but leave a slight aluminum ring around the outside of the knob. That way, you'd tie the knobs into the chrome around your gauges.
I would have to see how those look before I'd do anything though. If I was feeling more motivated, I'd photoshop that up, but I'm not right now...

Just my $0.02. Now flame away... :D

Dave

FWIW, my interior is still basically stock, except for a boost gauge and turbo timer display.

Hey Everyone,

*shouts* MY KNOB IS BROKEN! or is it the post? it spins around further than it should, like it makes a 360. Now that I think about it, I don't think those aluminum knobs would do any good.

doh! how to delete this post? double posted by mistake.
