FD aftermarket radio.

I am sorry if this has been asked before. I have tried searching and google as well to no avail.

I have a 94 rx7 with a full stereo system in it. Component speakers up front and rear and a 5 channel amp powering everything. I had a pioneer 9800bt in the top din but it went out on me and I have to replace it. The shop I went to sold me a clarion cz500 and I hate the radio with a passion. I was looking at the pioneer 80prs but they say it won't fit with the rcas. I was also told that we have to work around a plate that runs right to left at the back of the radio. I am wondering if it is possible to fit a radio with the rcas directly on the radio would fit or would I need to move the radio to the bottom din which I have no problem doing cause I see the plate they are talking about on the top din, but not on the bottom. I guess what the question is what radio would you guys suggest and is there anything major to use the bottom din. Thank you guys.

You need to get a second opinion from another installer. Yes, there is a bracket at the rear of the radio that could cause problems, but I don't think it will interfere with the RCA cables. The position of the RCA receptacles should be above the bracket.

If you want to use the bottom DIN, there isn't much of an issue other than visibility and the shifter getting in the way.

What is that bracket in the back for? It does look like it would be close, if it ends up being a problem, would it be an issue to shave down that bracket or something?

Put the original back in and add an LC-6 converter to hook up the amp and speakers. Works great and looks cool.

straight up, cut that tab outa there to fit w/e head unit you desire. The FD dash has 1.5" roll cage tubing supporting it from a-pillar to a-pillar.

I have had no problem with fitting many different head unints in my FD my current is an Alpine which did take some creative cable management to get it to fit perfectly, and if all ells fails I agree with Black Magic just cut the tab out.
