Fc door problem?

I've made a bit of a F**k up, i'm rebuilding my 1990 T2 and i've got two doors for it , without checking the model there off (doh!!) i've repaired and painted them.

This is the Problem the doors are of a lower spec car and have no door speaker holes (they seem to be shaped and would be hard to cut new holes without major mods)

I belive there off a Second Gen NA. How do u guys get around these problem?

Thanks....Chris

id cut a hole :) Why would it be so hard, power window reg? motor? in the way?

The door is shapped, so you would have to cut the hole shapped bit out then weld a large plate in to make it flat so u can then cut the hole for the speaker. Now as i've just spent 2 weeks repairing and painting these doors i dont want to go cutting big holes in them.

U see where i'me coming from?

Door panel is flat isnt it? Mount the speaker to the door panel, and let some of the screws go through the metal, but dont wrap the speaker from the metal being uneven. We do it all the time at work, never have a problem ...

Normally if you have a 86-87 door (they started phasing in the lower speaker location in mid 88) that does not have the lower front speaker hole location in the door, I pop rivet a aluminum panel into the lower speaker location then cut out the hole for the speaker through the riveted in panel and any metal beind it.

This way you have all the strength that you would need as well as a nice flat rust free surface to mount the speaker onto.
