heres my progress so far... Excuse the mess and the 10 pounds of sanding dust everywhere... Anyone have any tips/advice???

i do have a question. how were the black strips from the sides held on? just doublesided tape, or were there holes in the body? I am thinking or just removing them from my '82 when I get it painted, as I think the lines would look much better without them, and was wondering if I will have to bondo from these?

these trim peices ended up being a struggle for me... They are held on by tape... But the tape was extremely hard to get off it took me maybe 2 hours with a sidecutter thingy... Alot of work to get off trust me... just dont make the mistake of trying to pry it off with a screwdriver... I did this and now I need to use alot more bondo

Use 3M double-sided adhesive trim tape and go over the surfaces of both the body (after it's painted) and the trim pieces with wax and adhesive remover before applying.

Apply the tape to the surface of the trim pieces first, and then peel away some (but not all) of the covering. Then, line it up on the body and gradually peel away the rest of the tape covering while pressing the piece to the body.

To be honest Im not going to put the trim back on... I might change this decision after I get the car painted but we will see.

The pictures I uploaded are the look im going for... Some won't like it as much but I like the look and it will be simple and unique (and I broke one of my brittle trim pieces.... Im trying to forget this lol)

2 hours to take off side moldings? Mine were really tough, but come on man, use some huevos. I just pried mine a lil with a scraper or bondo spreader, then pulled them off. Hard at first but it gets easy, then to take of the glue... well that's the really hard part. I ended up sanding the glue off because I was going to primer everything anyways. I wouldn't take them off unless you plan to paint, that tape is a bitch.

I hope it's not very humid, or expect your stuff to start rusting. If I were you I would have gone panel by panel: strip, primer, strip, primer, and then paint everything at once. This way you have no worries of paint bubbling because your panels start to rust.
