Evo-R Sleek Kit Question
I bought the EVO-R's a while back, and just curious if any1 else who has them, has the same problem i do w/ the covering in the back, which is just a rubber piece that doesnt fully cover it.. is there a way to shut it completely in the back so that nothing gets in under your headlight covers? Or should i just tar the top of it and leave the bottom and sides open, that way there is some sort of protection in the back?

mine is open in the back, so i found a spider in there once, but i haven't had any real problems. the good thing about being open is that you don't have to worry about a perfect seal, and therefore no condensation fogging up the glass. this happens all the time on the g35 and 350z lights.

I would like to bump this for more opinions on sealing these. The rubber pieces I got are far from a perfect fit, so I was considering buying the same kind of rubber and making a good fit, with proper holes to seal the grommets, and double sided tape to seal the edges. The above post makes me wonder if I'd be better off leaving them open in the back, or maybe double-sided tape with a screen, to keep spiders and bugs out, but still prevent condensation.

I have had mine for years and have them open never had a problem, if they start getting a little dusty inside I just get an air gun and blow it out. why do you have to have them sealed?

I used a bit of black silicone and braced the areas around the body while it dried, haven't had any issues.

Did you use the rubber that came with it? Mine doesn't quite fit...

L/R are different. Make sure you have them right. On my FD I did not put the cover on also.
It seems like they will hold themselves up fairly well on the wires alone (hold the rubber between the provided wire grommet and the lights themselves). I think I'll just do that, to allow access into the lights later, if needed. |
