which ones are you asking about, the original projectors or the 60mm?

superdan50 09-09-09 11:15 AM

i am wanting to make my own kit, and was considering the 60mm projectors for mine. but i want to make sure the lighting doesnt suck. do you have any long distance night shots showing the beam pattern?

Laz93RX7 09-09-09 12:22 PM

I think i got some before and after shots i'll have to look in my PC when I get home.

sweet, thanx

Lighting is horrible unless you go HID. You can get the H3 white HID's and ballast for $60 through the vendor in the vendors section that fits the bulbs pictured above. $60 will do two lights, so you'd need two kits to do all 4 projectors.

I'm looking to replace the ones I use for high beams, let me know if you find anything that fits. right now i've got some larger lexus lenses which i adapted to the housing that came with the evo kit. I didn't get the distance right so a beam doesn't form.

I' in the process of getting blatantly ripped off by EVO-R for 400+ bucks on an ill-fitting light kit for my RX-7.

Steer clear.

Any more pictures?

i am exploring several options in my journey to make a better sleek kit. one of which is using the evo r projectors. does any one have pictures of the rvo r projector's cut off? and over all lighting?

also one route i will explore (the more promising one) will be using the projectors/reflectors out of another car. that way even thought the lights themselves are not DOT, the lights will be out of a DOT headlight. this way it will have the correct patterns.

my objective in this project is to offer a sleek kit with great fitment, great lighting quality and a great price (as well as looking good).

oh sorry, by distance is wrong, i mean the lights were modified, so the distance between the bulb and the lense isn't what it used to be (I had them modified by CinCity Designs), the lighting was bad, and i sent it to them to fix and be their first rx7 kit, but it came back even worse, with projectors, the distance between the lense and the bulb is important, just like your eyes (the lense and the reflectors in the back of the eye are at a very precise distance in order for them to focus)

First, let me thank you for your input it has been very helpful.

Second is my question. is the lens you are referring to, the clear plastic cover? or the actual projector lens?

like i said i intend on using the assembly out of a DOT approved headlight, so if you are referring to the projector lens i should be in the clear. if you are referring to the clear cover i now have another hurdle to figure out. :)

TwinCharged RX7 03-21-10 12:46 PM

I'm referring to the projector lense, it won't focus the light. I get a ring of light instead of a beam and it leaves it all dark in the middle so i can't see at all except for where the ring is, which is not on the road haha.

superdan50 03-22-10 12:51 PM

gotcha

NCGNETO90 06-03-10 11:56 AM

Can someone post pictures of what the kit looks like installed and how the lights are on the road?

NCGNETO90 08-30-10 09:30 PM

superdan50 08-30-10 10:20 PM
