just checked the site today, think I will be doing another set for myself using these new minis:
What makes the MH1 5.0 from TRS better than ever? more push and pull force from the solenoid, a machined aluminum 27mm Hex lock-ring, Integrated foreground limiter, further improved reflector bowl coating, Morimoto Logo cast into the body, blocked squirrel finders, and a revised front lens frame which removes the "halo" from the beam pattern.

Bulbs: H1 Morimoto 3five (I think I prefer 6000K)
Shrouds: E55-R (+$25.00) ( Doesn't it say 2x Shrouds/bezels of your choice)
Wire Harness: Relay: H1 (I'm assuming since it's an H1 bulb?)
PLUS, I plan to use my stock headlight housings.
Please clarify if possible, so I can get on this project, hopefully it will easy and painless. And thanks TurboIIRotary!

here is a couple things i found comparing the mini h1 vs oem fx with clear lens.
The mini h1 is pretty much the same as the mini d2s but is a half inch longer and uses a h1 bulb. It should fit into the housing if you decide to go with the mini h1 instead, but i can't gaurantee it will fit as i haven't tried it yet. There is also a fxr (replica of the fx35) projector which has the same intesity but the light is more evenly dispersed.

the light goes directly through the projector but there is some light that reflects back into the housing. it looks the same as any car with a hid projector setup. here is a picture i tried to take.
some of you may notice that the one pictured is different, i used the stock housing's polished the lenses on them and used a different shroud. this version is a little more simple as you only need to cut the shroud instead of the housing.

Not sure where the guy got they were longer unless I'm missing something. Seems all the lights may have been improved since this last post but not sure, I'm a newbie!

Bumping an old thread. I'm going to be doing this soon. Can someone tell me which one is better? D2S Stage III or the Mini H1 Stage III? Will they both fit? According to the measurements on TRS website the Mini H1 Stage III are smaller.
Not sure where the guy got they were longer unless I'm missing something. Seems all the lights may have been improved since this last post but not sure, I'm a newbie!

Not exactly but here is what I have. I did the Mini H1 with Spyder Clear Lens Retrofit. Basically what I found out is:
1. The Mini H1's are smaller/shorter than the D2s and require less work to fit.
2. The D2's are probably brighter and more powerful than the Mini H1's.
3. In order to get the D2s to fit you must cut the back of the housing off and add a spacer of some sort. All you need for the Mini H1's is grinding the inside and the tabs on the back off. I think the D2S have become larger and longer since this original thread.
With that said I love mine and they are plenty bright for my use and I am very glad I didn't have to do any more work than I did for this! It was more work than I thought but I painted my housings too so that added a little. Mainly the grinding was tedious. I had to grind more than I expected to get the H1's to fit with the lenses on.
I'm really glad I did these and don't regret it one bit. I will say though, after I started these I had 3 people tell me all they had was the Spyder Clear Lens housings with a good high end halogen bulb and that was plenty of light for them. I should have tried that before spending $350 more but they would not have been as cool, lol.
I must say that The Retrofit Source were awesome in their customer service and support through the process. They also offer a military discount and I saw your Eagle Globe and Anchor so that will help, I'm a Former Marine too! Also there is a guy who has a website 802projects.com who did this and I had a lot of help from him! Only thing I did different from his was I used Flat Black paint instead of Satin and I did the H1 so I didn't have to add the spacer like he did. Look on his website and find the RX7 and you'll see what I'm talking about. Mine aren't perfect but turned out great. I don't know how to turn the pictures, sorry.
