Custom shift knob, what do you guys think?
I have a buddy that works at a machine shop, and I told him what I wanted and gave him some approximate dimensions and he was able to make a custom shift knob for me! Made out of stainless, just a few grams heavier than my previous knob, and I didn’t feel like spending a minimum of 50$ on a decent knob so I figured why not make one? Looks great. Any idea how hot it will get in the sun after it's been sitting?

Pretty slick, I like the knurling a lot. Similar to one of my fav shift knobs, the Carbing. Taller & thinner but similar knurling to grip the knob like a boss.

That does look pretty nice. Do you happen to know If the FD shifter thread the same as FB/FC shifters?

i think the fb is 12mm and pre 81 10mm. maybe it's 10 and 8. i know the earlier shift levers were smaller in dia.

the really early 4 and 5 speed trannys from the SA's are something like 10x1.5. FB's should all be 12x1.5.....if your really curious try taking one of your rx7's wheel bolts and thread it into the stock shift knob ;) plus i retapped my 79's shift knob with a 12x1.5 and it fit perfect
