Custom rear speaker option for an FD, check it out!

After searching for speaker brackets and grills for awhile, i decided that I really didn't want 6x8's in the rear and wanted components instead. Being I work with wood, I decided to make some speaker holders/grills instead of buying them. The speakers screw in from the rear, I used 6-1/2 components, 5-1/4 would work as well. I made these slide in from the front because I would need to remove my roll bar to get to the from the rear.

I used 3/4" but could also make them out of 1/2". No name on the clips, custom made from a local hardware store... want a set?

Nice work, similar to what I did to make custom brackets for the doors. I'm going to have to do this for the back now.

Nice, that is exactly what I am trying to do. If it doesn't sound good I will try fiberglass.

Excellent job, I did something similar but IMO yours came out a bit better.

Beautiful work, how did the sound turn out? I'm looking at doing something similar with those unused pockets now that the Bose is dead... And I'm better with wood than fiberglass

That's nice. I was thinking of doing mine from the rear for a flush fit.

It looks like you used plywood to make these, is that right? If so that would be my only criticism. The glue tends to give out and then you can get rattling noises. I'd recommend mdf. It does look outstanding though.

One question...I notice you put a port hole in the baffle. Did you put some kind of enclosure behind the speaker?

They are actually made from MDF. I would never use plywood for something like this cause it doesn't give you smooth edges. That is not a port, it is actually for the tweeter which wasn't installed when I took the picture.

They sound amazing!
