Carbon fiber fabric wrap
Hey everyone. I am currently in the process of redoing my Interior and all is going well so far. Yay! I was just curious if any of you out there have wrapped your dash and console in carbon fiber? If you have I'd love to see pics of it and how you did it. I know now that its not a piece of cake, so just a bit curious what everyone else did. Thanks

CF wrap
There is product called Niffy Wrap that looks like dry carbon fiber, like you see on the new BMW M-3. They sell it as a cloth. It has a cool 3D texture too it. I'm in the process of wrapping my dash and center console. I' will post photos when I'm done.

Sweet can't wait to see it!

I was thinking of doing this with my dash and some inside pieces as well. When you get it done shoot some pics. Id love to see how it worked for you.

I did mine, but wasn't happy with it. From a distance it looks really good, but I physically couldn't get mine to stretch enough to cover the insides of the bezels on the gauge cluster. I'm a perfectionist, so I ripped it all off and painted it grey instead.
For adhesive I used 3m 77. Its good, just make sure you leave it long enough before covering, or it will take ages to set (by which time the fabric will have moved). Cell pic of mine before I removed it: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...D/DSC00816.jpg |
Hrmm looks good in the picture. How did you get it off?

Personally I think painted looks better. I purchased medium grey............But they sent a really light grey. So I tried it.....I think it came out okay :) http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...D/GOPR0181.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...D/GOPR0178.jpg |
^ yeah thats pretty light, this is charcoal grey, going for a spirit-r look, flash makes it brighter than it is.

I covered a seat in 3m fake carbon fiber and I think it turned out great
It does have a texture like the real thing. http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3318/080520103586.jpg http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/4...0520103589.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/6112/080520103590.jpg |
Dang Ceylon That looks great! I like it. Yea I can imagine it could be somewhat of a nightmare getting that crap off. Maybe a heat gun would do the trick?

Neffy wrap

I finally got my interior done. It came out good, not great. Here's what I learned. The material works great on flat and convex surfaces. If you put it on a concave surface like the instrument pod, the material will lift. After covering the pod twice, the deep area under the overhang would lift by the next day. I took the pod to the guy that cover my seats. He said the PVC the dash is make of will never stick well. What he did was make a pattern of three pieces. One that layed flat around the instruments, one that layed flat under the overhang, and one over the top band. After making a pattern of cheap fabric and check the fit, he sewed in with Neffy wrap, and glued it on PASSIVELY. The other pieces that were basically flat were stretched glued.
Here are a couple pics I've never uploaded pictures to this forum. Hopefully this works |
