What do you drive?
Are you familiar with the stock stereo in an FB, FC or FD?
Or are you recommending to rip out the entire stock setup and start over.

Killacamster 12-17-12 12:13 AM

If you want to retain your OEM head unit thats fine. You just wont get the quality sound from newer (20+ years) technology. If there is a problem with your head unit and you want it fixed PM me and i have a company that works with my shop that can repair them.

Starting over new is what i'd personally recommend. Choose the CD player that suits your needs. CD, Ipod, Sat Radio what ever suits you. Brands Pioneer, Sony, Alpine. You have to make that decision.

Speaker replacement nothing more than a 2 way speakers from pioneer, alpine of memphis if your going for simple and quality. if you wanna really step it up PM me ill go into further detail.

Sub woofer (a waste but fun) one 10 inch woofer is enough. fiber glass, box, ported, blah blah doesnt matter. I'd suggest x4 6-inch JL W3s in a fiberglass box under the rear strut bar matched with a JL 500 HD and (small small) but thats just me.

We're here to help each other. You still haven't answered his question. I just gave him my opinion. What's yours? Remember "most" of us are adults here.

Though Casual_Johns's post was kinda odd... Your's came out of left field. Seriously what is so pretentious about any of those posts? and why do you think they are being punks?

Google pretentious then you will understand why I said that about casual Jon's comment and as far as what I drive I have an 01 gs300, 91 MR2 Turbo and an 86 Grand National Clone

Montego 12-18-12 11:16 AM

I know exactly what pretentious means... I think its all in the way one reads into things. To me he was just asking if you had personal experience with RX-7's, which shows that he doesn't know much about stereo systems. In fact his whole post is odd (not pretentious). He didn't even state what he wants and is already asking if you suggest he rips it all out...

I'll be honest, I actually appreciated you offering your experience but dang dude lol.

No problem. I also own Automotive Obsessions here in Farmville Virginia. The business has been around for 15 years and we have done many Rx7s along with Ferrari Porch Lamborghini Lotus and many other. I can get anything you need at cost as long as we are contracted with the company. Pm me if you need something. Will install anything for free.

I have a question actually, I am going to be installing a carpc in my FD. What i'm wondering is how can I interface the PC sound with the car speakers? Mainly concerning the 3.5mm ports on the sound card. Would i get bad sound quality if i used a 3.5mm to RCA device; or is there another way to interface?

Killacamster 03-13-13 10:19 PM

I think the 3.5 aux to RCAs will work fine. It ready depends on the sound quality from the carpc to the CD player. There are lots of different ways to do it. Try your idea first and turn everything on but try not to start any sound (pressing buttons, ect) then turn the volume all the way up and see if you here static. If you do that's feedback. The more feedback the lower the overall quality of sound will generally be. Now if you have tons of static. Try a higher quality 3.5 aux to RCAs. Avoid running your wires near power wires. You could even do it wireless with iphone adapters. Just post if you run into trouble.

ANYONE can answer this question for me that honestly has an understanding on acoustics,i bought some new 6 and 1/2" pioneers to install in the speaker towers on my 88gxl,they came with those foam speaker baffles to install under the speakers,im using the oem plastic speaker enclosures, was wondering if there was any advantage to using the two together? it seems to me the baffle would reduce harshness maybe? but also would reduce the volume in the enclosure below the speaker? good or bad?

Killacamster 03-14-13 05:15 PM

Not too sure what you mean by baffles but as long as the speaker is mounted properly you should only need to use what is necessary to make it flush. I don't think I'm answering your question though. Got any pics it would help a lot.

looking at the crutchfield description answered my question i believe, baffles are for keeping the speakers dry and clean,i.e. marine use,off roading, etc.

Killacamster 03-14-13 08:50 PM

Ok. I only used those in a boat once and that was customer request. I wouldn't use them in your install they are not needed.
